ngena – business alliance of the 21st century
Dear reader,
Enterprises today are facing a huge range of challenges as digitalization, globalization and new IT solutions call for inno-vative network solutions. Companies need to interconnect sites and workforces around the globe with greater flexibility and agility than ever before. New cloud-based applications are driving demand for greater connectivity and higher band-widths with premium network performance and security.
To offer a solution that can overcome these customer chal-lenges, leading telecommunication providers from around the world have joined forces in a shared economy model to build the Next Generation Enterprise Network Alliance: ngena. Founded in early 2016, ngena provides a global platform that merges the local networks of all our alliance partners, forming a single Software-Defined Network (SDN). Leveraging the ad-vantages of virtualization technology and automation, ngena facilitates a flexible end-to-end configuration and provisio-ning of all services. Thus, local alliance partners can deliver consistent data connectivity services to their enterprise customers on a global scale.
To find out more about ngena and how our global alliance can help enterprises around the world to gain greater flexibility and efficiency, we invite you to read our company brochure.

Leading international telecommunication companies have formed the Next Genera-tion Enterprise Network Alliance – ngena. Enterprise customers benefit from network services, realized on complementary partner networks around the globe. Established in early 2016, ngena has seen so far 21 strong international partners around the globe joining the alliance. Founded by Deutsche Telekom, CenturyLink, Reliance Jio and SK Telecom, the alliance has now grown to include a number of new telecom partners such as A1, Altice with SFR and Portugal Telecom, British Telecom, China Unicom, Expereo, KPN, MTN, Neutrona, Starhub, Sunrise, Telus, PCCW Global, VEON and Viettel, along with technology partners Cisco, Comarch and Equinix.
ngena – providing data connectivity services around the globe
ngena solutions allow enterprises to benefit from consistent data connectivity services around the globe. From a technology perspective, ngena provides a central cloud platform that uses Software-Defined Net-working (SDN) technology to merge the local networks of all alliance partners into one global Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). The architecture is based on sharing the local network assets using cloud and virtualization technology to provide hybrid VPN services with additional service options (e.g. network optimization services, security services, etc.). Through this techno-logy, all alliance partners can deliver inno-vative SD-WAN services to their enterprise customers on a global scale. Enterprises benefit from this approach in many ways:
on the one hand they get a global network service which is faster to implement, highly secure and reliable, and more flexible and scalable than many current solutions compa-nies use today; on the other hand, business customers profit from the local access and local care of regional telecommunication providers.
ngena – paving the way for a truly globa lized economy
ngena comes with a completely new business model and a new technology in a greenfield setting, sharing network assets of trusted service providers. With ngena the alliance partners strive to pave the way for a truly globalized economy.
ngena – cutting edge technology – always
The key enabling cloud and virtualization technology for the global platform is provi-ded by our technology partner Cisco. The Business and Operations Support System (BOSS) is developed by Comarch, a portal where our alliance partners can easily con-figure, deploy and change global networks with a click of a mouse. In addition, Equinix offers data center and cloud connectivity service.
Thanks to the agile development ngena will always provide future-proof services. The result: a new global business network that is based on the latest technology and the best possible knowledge of the most advanced experts in the industry.

What is ngena?
ngena is an acronym and stands for Next Genera-tion Enterprise Network Alliance, an alliance of global telecommunications companies. At the same time, it is the company name of ngena GmbH, which is a private limited company (GmbH), headquartered in Frankfurt (Germany).
Which partners does ngena collaborate with?
ngena is building an alliance of the world’s leading telecommunication companies. Each alliance partner has a unique positioning in its region and vast experience with enterprise customers. Through these partnerships, ngena clients profit from a global network that is not just secure, but also provides great coverage in each region and outstanding local services.
What kind of service does ngena offer?
ngena provides a central cloud platform that merges the local networks of all alliance partners, forming a single global Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). All ngena partners can deliver performant IP-VPN services to their end customers on a global scale. With this, enterprise customers get a global network service which is secure, stable, scalable and easy to use; and they profit from the local access and local care of their regional telecommunication provider.
In which territories are ngena’s services available?
As customers of the ngena alliance partners are multinational enterprises that have operations all
around the world, ngena is offering a global data connectivity service that paves the way for a truly globalized economy. Currently, ngena offers its services in ca. 200 territories worldwide.
How does ngena provide its services?
By using latest SDN technology based on Cisco- Viptela equipment and an innovative, Cloud-based Business and Operations Support System (BOSS) developed by Comarch, ngena interconnects the local networks of all its alliance partners to build a world-wide available Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). Leveraging the advantages of virtualization technology and automation, ngena facilitates a flexible end-to-end configuration and provisioning of all services.
As ngena’s portfolio is a wholesale offer for part-ners, enterprise customers deal directly with their trusted local service provider – an ngena alliance partner – who will configure and administrate the customer network via ngena’s BOSS portal.
This central portal serves as a front-end, giving alliance partners access to an end-to-end auto-mated IT platform that offers and delivers the global network solutions. The portal enables the configuration, fulfillment and assurance of global network services with all financial, logistics and support processes.
For each customer site, alliance partners can offer a choice of single or redundant low-cost Internet lines, single or redundant high-quality Ethernet lines or a combination of Internet and Ethernet lines. Additional value-added services like network opti-mization or security services are also available via ngena’s central portal.
ngena – some facts about us
The access lines and all field services are deliv-ered by ngena’s partners operating in different countries, where the customers are active.
Special attention is paid to the security aspects of the ngena network and platform: they are designed by keeping core principles of security like authentication, encryption and data integrity in mind. The security guidelines are implemented globally for data plane, control plane and manage-ment plane using encryption, security policies, automation and orchestration, thus keeping the customer data highly protected.
How does ngena differ from other alliances in the telecommunications sector?
ngena differs in many ways from other alliances. First, ngena is an independent legal entity with its own management and truly focused on fulfilling customer requirements with fast decision making. Second, ngena acts as a wholesale organization enabling the partners to sell superior services to their customers. ngena is not a consortium, but a market-oriented enterprise, a fact that benefits every single partner. Finally, ngena has created its own platform which is completely automated and uses SDN technology. This approach goes far beyond existing concepts.
