PayPal is becoming very popular and there would be very few people who would not be

aware of such services. All those people, who are into freelancing or who do transactions

online, would be aware of these PayPal services that are being offered. These PayPal

web services were started in the year 1998 and they were later acquired by eBay in 2002

which is considered to be another giant in its own field.

With great effort and dedication, pay pal has become a global leader in these payment

services and it has more than hundred million people availing its services. Its presence

can be felt in fifty five countries across the world. All those people who buy and sell

things online or do transactions or businesses online are using these services.

This service is basically an offering which lets the customers make payments for the

goods and services bought by them online through them. The customers need not pay

money directly to the buyers on their websites and this as a result provides lot of security

and safety to the people who are transacting online. This service is very important for

such online transactions as most of these online transacting parties are not aware of each

other's complete profile and at times have not even seen each other's faces. The biggest

advantage of this service is that the customer need not give his sensitive information like

credit card details and still do transactions online.

The merchant dealing with such services need not have a separate merchant account and

also would not be dealing with the credit card details of the customer. All those people

who are not willing to make separate merchant accounts or are willing to give multiple

payment options to their prospective customers can make use of these services.

The entire process is very simple with these services. The customer who is willing to

buy goods from the merchant will click on the payment option provided on the

merchant's website from where he would be taken to the PayPal web hosting service and

then he would return back to the seller's website once the transaction is done. The other

features of this PayPal web hosting service are that it does not have set up fees,

cancellation fees, monthly service fees, monthly minimum payments, annual

membership fees, monthly gateway fees, etc. and the transactions are completed on their

site itself instead of the seller.

How to Set Up a PayPal Account For Online Payments

What is PayPal?

In a nutshell, PayPal is an on-line payment processor that allows any individual or

business with an email address to send and receive payments securely and easily simply

using a bank account, credit card, debit card or stored balance. Your privacy is always

secure since this security is an inbuilt feature in using the system. At no time will vendor

or seller see each others personal of financial details.

How To Set Up A PayPal Account

1. The first thing you need to do is visit PayPal.com. Regardless of which country you

are in PayPal will read your IP address (which is your on-line address assigned by your

network) and automatically place your country location to the correct PayPal web

address.

2. At the very top of the screen you will see "Sign Up", "Log In", "Help" and "Security

Centre". You need to click the "Sign Up" text. I nearly forgot. If you are a business and

want to open a business account you will need click on the "business tab" which is

immediately below the menu options I've just mentioned. The sign up questions are

similar, but for the sake of this article we'll assume you want to sign up as an individual.

3. If you pressed the "Sign Up" text, you will automatically be signing up under the

"Personal" tab which is completely free and allows you to send and receive funds as

long as t comes from another PayPal account and not a credit card.

4. The next screen simply confirms which country you are signing up from and what sort

of account you would like to sign up for, Personal, Premier or Business. In the first

instance click on the drop down menu and find the relevant country you live in, then in

the personal box click on the Get Started" button.

5. The next screen will ask you some personal details such as, email address, choose a

password, first name, last name etc. Fill these details in accurately.

Notes For Choosing A Password

As some extra notes on choosing a password, I would advise you to choose one that you

don't use anywhere else. I.e. bank Internet access, or forum access. The reason for this

is, it is easy for people to hack into your account simply by guessing that you'll probably

use the same password as you use for other accounts. If you use a completely new one

for PayPal, it is virtually impossible for anyone to guess your password. A combination

of letters and numbers is always best. It's easier for people to guess names you may use,

but guessing names and numbers you might use in combination is impossible for them to

guess.

6. The next step is secure your debit or credit card details with PayPal. This information

will vital later on since you'll be able to trade a great deal faster with this information

stored on PayPal. You will be asked some further security details later, but for now just

choose the appropriate option here.

7. Read the service description, user agreement and privacy policy fully. Once you're

read and understood them, click on the "Agree and Create" button at the bottom of this

sign up screen.

8. As long as you've entered all of the correct details on the previous page, this page will

ask you to confirm your sign up by checking your email. This is a security process that

eliminates spamming and people signing up under false pretenses.

9. Once you've confirmed by email you'll be forwarded back to PayPal and asked this

time to "Log-In" with the email address you gave previously and your password.

10. You are now on the account screen. You have several options open to you, such as

sending money, requesting money, and merchant services etc. Have a play around with

some the tabs to familiarize yourself with them and get to know them.

PayPal: A Friendly Way to Pay

PayPal is becoming more and more prevalent as a means of doing business on the

internet. Those who spend a lot of time on eBay are well aware of how PayPal works.

Now that more and more websites are asking for PayPal payments, many consumers are

left scratching their heads and wondering, "What is PayPal? Is it safe? Is it easy?"

PayPal is a means of making or receiving secure payments over the internet in the place

of a credit card. Consumers must sign up for a PayPal account and link it to either a

Using PayPal is easy to use, safe and free for the purchaser. PayPal doesn't share

financial information so the seller never sees bank account or credit account numbers.

They have strict anti-fraud measures in place and protect buyers from unauthorized

purchases.

In addition, for those who accept payments into their PayPal account, an ATM/debit card

is available for easy access to funds. Otherwise, simply log into PayPal and request a

transfer of funds back into the previously linked bank account.

With over 96 million PayPal accounts already set up worldwide, PayPal is clearly

making friends.

1.The customer makes a payment or requests a refund, triggering the IPN

2.A notification is sent from the IPN to your server for validation

3.Your server returns the validation (or invalidation) notice to the IPN

Your business transaction is done, and all without you having to do anything beyond the

initial set up of the IPN on your site.

Something that should be mentioned here, is the fact that installing the IPN can be a bit

tricky if you're not familiar with how computer codes work. If that describes you, you

are probably not going to want to frustrate yourself with trying. Besides, getting it wrong

is a bad idea. The payments may not go into your account if you have improperly

installed the IPN code.
