Small Indoor Dining Expansion

What does this mean for you?

● Reservations are recommended, due to limited capacity. Reservations can be made by calling 563-5090 ext. 1 during operating hours.

● Members and their guests are required to be seated. Table service only; no standing or sitting at physical bars/bar tops.

● Members may only share a table with people in their household or social bubble.

● Tables are limited to parties of six.

● Guests of Members must sign in for contact tracing purposes.

● Masks are required, except while actively eating or drinking.

● Tables will be socially distanced; please respect this safety measure while visiting the Club.

● Please stay home if you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19.

On January 28, acting Anchorage Mayor, Austin Quinn-Davidson announced a further relaxing of a month-long health mandate issued just before the New Year.

The new Emergency Order 18 will allow us to increase our indoor dining from 25% to 50% maximum capacity (including staff) beginning Monday, February 1.

We will continue to offer touch-free curbside pickup during our regular hours, Monday to Friday from 4:00-9:00 p.m. Order by calling 563-5090 ext.1, we’ll charge it to your member account, tell you when it’s ready, and bring it out to your car in front of the building.

However, due to our limited space and ability to keep tables distanced at the required 10 feet apart, the new order equates to the addition of only one or two extra tables.

Choose from our regular dinner menu or check your Monday PCA emails for new Chef’s Specials. All menus, including wine lists can be found on our website, www.petroclub.net.

Thank you for your support and most of all, for your patience during this difficult time. We look forward to seeing you at the Club!

Dear Members,

I hope that you are all doing well and enjoying the additional sunlight that we are gaining every day.

The club continues to be open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. each week and we look forward to seeing you there. The financial health of the club is directly affected by the usage of our members. Please stop in and enjoy the PCA.

The acting Anchorage Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson has announced further relaxing of the current health mandate which will be effective February 1st. This allows occupancy of the club to increase to 50% but we must continue to comply with the municipal restriction which dictated the table spacing at the club. This effectively means that we will add

a few tables but that may be the only difference that you see as a result of the new mandate.

We are all looking forward to Superbowl Sunday on February 7th. The Sports Committee has put together a great event given the restrictions this year. The theme is the Corona Bowl. Thank you, Kathleen and members of the Sports Committee. If you have a reservation and are attending the event you will have a great time!

Thank you to our sponsors: PRA, Alaska Communications, CAL IV Tubulars, Andrew Buchanan, Stephanie Hayden, Pete Leathard, Dawn Linton-Warren, KLEF Radio, Kathleen Redmond, Tangerine Promotions, Associated Insurance Services, MW Drilling, Capital Office, Grump Rat, J&J, Alyeska Vascular Surgery, Alaska

Retinal Consultants, Gray Services, Minn-Alaska LLC and Harry McDonald.

Support from sponsors like these make our events possible. We especially value this support during a difficult year.

Continue to look for more events in the PCA Virtual Series. While not the same as being at the club, these have been a fun option to stay connected with other members. Please check your emails for upcoming event notifications for virtual and in person events.

I hope to see you at the club dining in or picking up take out.

If you are updating the credit card we have for you on file, please remember that the option of updating credit cards on our website is only there for you to make payments. For security purposes, your credit card information is not stored on the website and does not go to accounting.

If you wish to go on auto pay or have any questions about billing, please contact our financial administrator, Vicki Myers. She can be reached at [email protected] or 563-5090 ext. 3.

Also, starting this month you will see the $25 minimum food and beverage charge back on your member account. This means you must spend at least $25 a month on food (including curbside pickup) or drinks from the club during the month of your billing cycle. If left unused, you will be charged $25.

This charge had been waived for several months at the start of the pandemic when the club was closed, but we must now bring it back to keep the club financially sound during these challenging times. We appreciate and value your support. Thank you!

Hello fellow PCA members,

Super Bowl 55, the PCA Corona Bowl is around the corner. We are excited to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs; the Half Time show and all the great commercials. This will also be the grand opening of our Igloos out on the patio and we will be looking forward to booking many of you for that venue beginning February 8th.

A big thank you to our sponsors for their generosity, they have made it possible to have a modified celebration this year. Thank you to PRA, Alaska Communications, CAL IV Tubulars, Andrew Buchanan, Stephanie Hayden, Pete Leathard, Dawn Linton-Warren, KLEF Radio, Kathleen Redmond, Tangerine Promotions, MW Drilling, Associated Insurance Services, Capital Office, Grump Rat, J&J, Alyeska Vascular Surgery, Alaska Retinal Consultants, Gray Services, Minn-Alaska LLC and Harry McDonald.

As mentioned in previous announcements, sponsors were afforded the opportunity to book tables prior to opening space up to membership. Due to Covid restrictions, the Municipality originally limited our space to 25% capacity, and we are now full at those reserved tables.

PCA P IPEL INE NEWS, FEBRUARY 2021

The Muni has lifted restrictions, effective Monday, February 1 which increases our capacity to 50% but unfortunately does not change the restrictions regarding spacing between tables.

Nevertheless, this does allow us additional attendees. We are opening attendance as follows: non-sponsor members and family, there will be a $20 per person admission charge; reservations are mandatory and must be booked by 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2nd to allow for final menu planning and seating arrangements. Please remember, tables are still limited to six people from the same social bubble.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Sheri at the club by 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday the second. (563-5090 ext. 1) We expect the event to sell out and to be at maximum capacity allowable by municipal restrictions. In order to comply with those restrictions, members or visitors will not be able to attend the event without a reservation.

Chef John will be cooking up special “family style” fare that is sure to please the palate. This will include his famous Firecracker Shrimp with reds beans and rice; Cajun Chicken, andouille sausage and cheese grits; Seafood Jambalaya; and dessert! Consider these menu items for your future events at the Club.

Thank you again to all you sports fans, sponsors and members. This will be a Super Bowl to remember!

Kathleen Redmond,PCA Sports Committee Chair

PCA SUPER BOWL PARTY

Which team has made the most Super Bowl appearances? The New England Patriots have made 11 trips to the Super Bowl between 1985 and 2018 and won 6 of them. The Pittsburgh Steelers come in second place with 8 Super Bowl matchups. Those teams also boast the most Super Bowl wins at six each.

Which teams have never played in a Super Bowl? The Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars. The Browns came close this year but lost to the Chiefs on January 17.

Which city has hosted the most Super Bowls?Miami, Florida has hosted the most Super Bowls – 11 times! Followed by New Orleans, Louisiana which has hosted 10 Super Bowl matchups.

When was the highest scoring Super Bowl?Super Bowl XXIX when the San Francisco 49ers beat the San Diego Chargers, 49-26. The lowest scoring Super Bowl so far was when the Patriots beat the Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII.

Who has the most rushing yards recorded in a Super Bowl?Washington Redskins running back Timmy Smith clocked 204 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns in Super Bowl XXII giving his team a 42-10 victory over the Denver Broncos.

Has the Super Bowl ever not happened?Nope! The most anticipated football game of the year has been played every year since the first Super Bowl in 1967 when the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10.

Super Bowl Food Facts to Chew On…Super Bowl falls just behind Thanksgiving as the biggest food consumption day in the U.S. so it’s a great day to take a break from your New Year’s diet! While pizza has the largest share of takeout orders on Super Bowl Sunday (about 60%), according to Wikipedia, there other popular items on the table that Americans will consume before the day is over:

• 28 million pounds of chips• 8 million pounds of guacamole• 1.25 billion chicken wings• 50 million cases of beer

No wonder the day after the Super Bowl stores see a 20% increase in the sale of antacids and 6% of Americans call in sick to work. No excuse this year with so many of us still working remotely!
