AUTOMATION SECTION 3480 3480.1 SCOPE. To establish policy on Materials Management.Mix Designs.Portland Cement Concrete Mix Design. To define field names and establish policy on the content of these fields. 3480.1.1 All Portland Cement Concrete Mix Designs shall be recorded so they may be assigned to contracts as necessary. 3480.2 GENERAL. Portland Cement Concrete Mix Design stores data consisting of Mix Description, Mix Properties, Mix Materials and Mix Gradations for each mix designed by the Portland Cement Concrete Mix Design Method. 3480.2.1 Materials Management. Mix Designs. Portland Cement Concrete Mix Design shall be maintained by District Materials. Update rights shall be given to those groups responsible as directed by the supervisor of district materials activities. Inquiry rights are granted to all other users. 3480.2.2 Contractor/Producer submitted concrete mix designs must be evaluated and accepted before being entered into SiteManager. 3480.2.3 To assist in evaluating and entering Portland Cement Concrete mix designs into SiteManager, there exists an Excel2Oracle spreadsheet process. Use of the Excel2Oracle spreadsheet is optional, but since it automates evaluating and entering producer/contractor submitted mix designs, it provides a time savings which can be significant. Please see the SiteManager Quick Reference Guide for details on how to use the Excel2Oracle Mix Design Submittal worksheet. 3480.3 DESCRIPTION TAB. This must be completed for each mix. 3480.3.1 Mix ID. The Mix ID shall be assigned by the district using the official numbering system Using a uniform system aids in reporting and querying of mix design data and is important to manage with the thousands of mix designs that are in SiteManager. 3480.3.1.1 The following numbering system for a concrete Mix ID is mandatory.

YDMIXT####OPTNL Y = year, D = District (0 for District 10), MIXT = mix type, #### = 4 digits counting up from 0001 (you may start with other numbers), and OPTNL = optional characters at the discretion of the District. Only 6 characters allowed. “MIXT” Concrete Type Material Code CSPB Cement Stabilized Permeable Base 0302PBCS C13G Concrete, 1-3 Grout 0501CC13G C15G Concrete, 1-5 Grout 0501CC15G A10A Concrete, Class A-1 w/Air 0501CCA1.A A1HP Concrete, High Performance A-1 w/Air 0501CCA1HPA

A material code is selected which indicates the class of concrete the mix design represents. 3480.3.3 Producer Supplier Code. The Producer Supplier code representing the producer whom designed and submitted the mix design shall be used. Some producers are broken down into different Producer Supplier codes by plant location in SiteManager and the value entered I n this field should represent the plant if so divided. 3480.3.4 Designer Name. This field is optional. The person who did the mix design may be listed. 3480.3.5 Concrete Class type. This field is left blank because the concrete class type is already designated in the Material Code. 3480.3.6 Effective date. Effective date is the day the design is completed and considered correct. 3480.3.7 Termination date. Termination of a Portland Cement concrete mix design occurs when aggregate or cement characteristics change, after two years when the source changes, or when you want the mix to expire. Leaving this blank or putting the value too far in the future clutters the system, so use your judgment to set this value correctly. 3480.4 PROPERTIES TAB. Three fields on this window must be completed for each mix submitted by the producer. 3480.4.1 Water Cement Ratio. The W/C ratio submitted by the producer should be entered here. 3480.4.2 Air Content Measure. The air submitted by the producer should be entered here. 3480.4.3 Slump Measure. The slump submitted by the producer should be entered here.

3480.5 MATERIALS TAB. Each of the material components used in the mix design is selected and added to the list for the mix design. 3480.5.1 Material Code. Select the materials that reflect the components of the mix. 3480.5.2 Brand Name. This field is not used at this time. 3480.5.3 Producer Supplier Code. Select the producer of the material indicated above. 3480.5.4 Sample ID. This field should represent the approval of that component for use. Publicly regulated water supplies do not need a Sample ID. 3480.5.4.1 Admixtures: The Sample ID used for admixtures should come from the initial evaluation of the particular admixture performed by the New Products Engineer. This Sample ID can be found using the Impromptu reports found in: V:\Catalog\Materials\Impromptu 6 reports\Concrete and Cement. 3480.5.4.2 Cement and Flyash: The Sample ID used for cement or flyash consists of the latest Central Laboratory Approval sample. This sample ID can be found using the Impromptu reports found in: V:\Catalog\Materials\Impromptu 6 reports\Concrete and Cement. 3480.5.4.3 Aggregates: The Sample ID used to for the aggregate components of PCC mixes shall be the general aggregate source sample assigned for those ledges 3480.5.5 Spcfc Gravity. For material in which the specific gravity is known, it may be included in this field. 3480.5.6 Bulk Spcfc Gravity. For material in which the bulk specific gravity is known, it may be included in this field 3480.5.7 SSD Weight. For material in which the SSD Weight is known, it may be included in this field. 3480.5.8 Absorption Percent. For material in which the absorption percentage is known, it may be included in this field 3480.5.9 Fineness Modulus. This field is not used at this time. 3480.5.10 Mass. The mass of material that is designated for the production of one cubic yard or one cubic meter of concrete. 3480.5.11 Units Type. The units for the mass indicated above. 3480.6 GRADATION TAB. To establish policy on gradation data for a specific material code. 3480.6.1 Gradation specification data for the material, if applicable, shall be entered from the Missouri Standard Specifications for Highway Construction or other applicable documents. Gradation data shall be that which is in effect on the Effective Date. Entering a gradation is
