Thanks to everyone for making it such a success. We kicked off the season with our annual Meet The Members event at the spectacular home of John Renner, our Chair and host. It was nice to see so many familiar faces as well as plenty of new ones! It was a great way to kick off the season, renew old acquaintances, meet new people and learn about programming for the upcoming season. Welcome to the PHOTOGRAPHY COLLECTION COUNCIL e-Newsletter

Dear PCC members,

It's been another entertaining and educational season for the Photography Collection Council. Thanks to everyone for making it such a success. We kicked off the season with our annual Meet The Members event at the spectacular home of JohnRenner, our Chair and host. It was nice to see so many familiar faces as well as plenty of new ones! Itwas a great way to kick off the season, renew old acquaintances, meet new people and learn aboutprogramming for the upcoming season.

Philip Gittelman, founder of Magnum Films, spoke to a SOLD OUT audience at the TalkingPhotography lecture on November 9. Philip gave us an informative and entertaining history ofMagnum photographers and his use of still photography in documentary films. The lecture wasfollowed by a cocktail reception at a private home in Old Las Palmas.

The Photography Salon featured collector and PCC founding member Pamela Bonino inconversation with curator Daniell Cornell about collecting photography. We learned about how shebegan, how a theme emerged and inspired further purchases. Pamela recommended browsingauction sites to become familiar with genres and photographers as a way to gain the confidence tomake that first...or zillionth acquisition. Pamela urged us to consider donating to the museum'spermanent collection and shared a wish list with us.

We were lucky to have two major photography exhibitions this season with curator led walk-throughs; Bauhaus twenty-21 with Sidney Williams and Edward S. Curtis: One HundredMasterworks and the companion exhibition Changing the Tone: Contemporary Native AmericanPhotography with Christine Giles and Daniell Cornell.

Our fundraiser this year was the inaugural "Fair Warning" photography auction honoring our ownMichael Childers for his generosity and support of the PCC. our guest auctioneer was Andrea Fiuczynski, Chair, Sothebys-Americas. The PCC raised over$50,000, a record for us!

Our LUEY party featured a Warhol "Silver Clouds" theme hosted by Deborah Page, Don Saxton andDavid Austin. Deborah and Don's art-filled home was the perfect setting for our event with guests intheir fright wigs and 60's attire!

We finished our season with the VIP Collectors Tour to Los Angeles. The group visited The Getty andLACMA to view the two Robert Mapplethorpe exhibitions. We were lucky to have both Daniell andGordon Baldwin with us as each are experts on Mapplethorpe having worked on their ownexhibitions at PSAM and The Getty respectively. Afterwards the group visited the home of collectorDon Woodford who hosted us at his photography filled home in San Bernardino.

I hope you enjoy these photos from some of our events this past season! If you would like to be asponsor by underwriting an event or host an event please contact the PCC at [email protected]. Have a great summer and see you in October, Marcy GregoryActing Chair
