Every Communication Arts class has been in periodically to check out books for Free Reading Fridays. The lab and library were both booked pretty solidly during the fall semester. Mrs. Stokes concentrated on diversifying the collection with more ebook and audio pur- chases and facilitated database seminars dur- ing Plus Times to help staff and students be- come more comfortable, familiar and efficient in navigating and utilizing those resources. Looking Ahead to Second Semester… Big plans are in the works for second semester. A new library advisory committee with members from the student population, the staff and some of our parents will be meeting a couple of times this semester to help determine the library’s future focus and direction. We are also awaiting the arrival of some Barnes and Noble Nook Simple Touches—some will be used for class- room checkouts and some will be available for individual student checkout. In the meantime, Mrs. Stokes will continue to work with classes on research projects, reading initiatives and other collaborations. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Stokes.
