LETTER FROM THE PROGRESSIVE CENTERDear Prospective Sponsor,

On behalf of the Progressive Center, we are pleased to announce the first annual “A Taste For Success” beer pairing dinner event on Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Strawberry Hill Mansion, atop Bald Pate Mountain, in Titusville, NJ!

This special event will help bring awareness to our agency and about the impact our programs have on the community as a whole while helping to raise money in support of our programs.

Over the past 20 years, Progressive Center has helped pave the way for Mercer and Hunterdon County residents of all ages living with disabilities and their families. Through various grants, donations, fee-for-service programs and other fundraising efforts, our agency has been able to help over 6,000 individuals living with disabilities to live independent lives and become productive participants in our local communities.

This event is not your typical non-profit fundraising event. Attendees will listen to live music from 519 South and spend the afternoon tasting gourmet delicacies specially crafted for this event by Chef Krause of Signature Affairs Catering of Marlboro, NJ that are perfectly paired with samplings of locally crafted beer from Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. of Bucks County PA.

Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to sponsor a station at this fundraising event and put your business in the spotlight. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions or wish to meet to discuss sponsorship opportunities, please contact Scott Elliott at (609) 581-4500 or (908) 625-9047 or Event Coordinator, Matt Panyko at (609) 613-6706. We look forward to hearing from you.

WHAT IS PROGRESSIVE CENTER?The Progressive Center for Independent Living, Inc. (PCIL) is celebrating 20 years as a leading private not-for-profit community based organization, providing services to people with disabilities in Mercer and Hunterdon Counties. PCIL founded by individuals with disabilities and family members of people with disabilities, in Ewing, New Jersey in 1996, dedicates its mission to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities to achieve and maintain independent lifestyles.

WHAT WILL YOUR SPONSORSHIP SUPPORT?Part of this year’s event proceeds will go towards establishing the Peter G Callas, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will provide an award to a graduating senior living with a disability pursuing a career in journalism who lives in Mercer County.

Remaining proceeds will go towards supporting our other wonderful programs and scholarship funds: STUDENT TRANSITION SERVICES, EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FOR FIRST RESPONDERS, ACCESSIBLE COMMUNITY RECREATION, SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS, and the COLLEEN L FRASER SCHOLARSHIPS.

Some FactsThe disability market represents 1.3 billion people globally who face challenges. Equivalent in size to the population of China, the disability market represents an annual disposable income of $1 trillion—and $544 billion in the US alone. When you include friends and family, this adds another 2.3 billion people who control an incremental $6.9 trillion in annual disposable income. Consumers that care about the disability market are increasingly directing their loyalty, and their consumer spending, to companies that demonstrate action inclusive of people with disabilities—as employees and as customers. Mercer and Hunterdon Counties have a local disability population of 99,000, add family and friends and the opportunities for marketing your product and recognition are endless.

Peter George Callas Jr., born August 4, 1959, in Hoboken, NJ, was a passionate journalist who lived with Muscular Dystrophy for nearly 40 years before he passed on May 3, 2014 at his Hamilton Township home. He was a former PCIL board member and owner of PGC Communications, a local public relations firm. He retired as Trenton Times managing editor in 2009.

Callas graduated Utica College at Syracuse University with honors in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He began his career at the Times’ staff as a copy editor in 1984, becoming managing editor at The Times in 1997, where he remained until he retired.

Peter, who joined PCIL board in 2010 was a colleague and friend and offered much inoutreach and marketing visions for the agency. In his honor, we wish to establish The Peter G Callas, Jr. Memorial Scholarship to celebrate his life, his friendship and all that he was as a human being.

The EventJoin the celebration on Sunday, October 16 as you savor the sounds of local band 519 South, while sampling hand-crafted brews with perfectly paired edibles at the Strawberry Hill Mansion atop Bald Pate Mountain, Titusville, NJ.

This years’ fundraising event features Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company and freshly prepared cuisine from Signature Affairs Catering.

Neshaminy Creek brews small batch hand crafted stouts, ales and IPA out of Bucks County, PA. This is not your run of the mill beer; handcrafted microbrews take experience, skill and time. Tastings of this magnitude are rare and unique in that many overlook the complexities surrounding handcrafted beers that often surpass their familiar wine equivalents. An oak barrel aged triple bock can be compared to a fine port wine. Beers, like wines, can be used in marinades and sauces to add robust character to your foods.

Chef Krause will incorporate some of these brews to prepare farm to table cuisine using locally grown produce and products. Some of our current sponsors are BK Speciality Foods of Swedesboro, Sweet Valley Farms of Ringoes, and The Crab Shack of Ewing. You will be pleased to see what we have to offer.

So don’t miss this amazing opportunity to sponsor a station at this fundraising event and put your business in the spotlight.
