Abstract In order to decrease the argument between the upper land people who want their agriculturalrevenues and lower land people who want watershed yield from ecosystem services, the model of landuse allocation over head watershed area must be find out. For this reason, DSSLA model has been defined to apply at Mae Sa Mai Royal project Development Center, Chiangmai since 2007.

System approach was operated by people participation. It was separated into four steps. Firstly,the hydrological characteristics of forested watershed and impacts of changing forest area to beagricultural land were studied. Secondly, the direct benefits of forest area were compared with therevenues of agricultural land. Thirdly, these data were taken to define the suitable agriculture pattern forhead watershed area. Lastly, land use types were allocated over any area of head watershed by upperland people and lower land people. The revenues of upper land people and water yield of lower landpeople were iteratively determined by DSSLA model

Up to this time, hydrological model including erosion model of DSSLA model were developed forsmall head watershed area. Weir was constructed over the outlet of forested watershed. The hydrologicalcharacteristics such as interception, infiltration, percolation soil moisture variation and runoffcharacteristics were also studied for verify and calibration hydrological model. According to crop model,the available data for estimating biomass and production of cash crop over studied area were collected tobe database of DSSLA model.
