1. Sew one 1 ½” x 11 ½” Fabric H strip to each side of the 11 ½” Fabric A square. Sew one 1 ½” x

13 ½” Fabric H strip to the top and bottom of the Fabric A square to complete the 13 ½” center

square.

2. Place one 7” Fabric B square on the left side of one 7” x 13 ½” Fabric F strip, right sides

together (Fig. 1). If using a striped fabric, lay the squares with the stripe running sideways

(east to west).

Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig.

1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the

triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

3. Place another 7” Fabric B square on the right side of the 7” x 13 ½” Fabric F strip, right sides

together (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower

right corner (Fig. 3). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 4).

Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance. This makes

one B/F unit. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make four B/F units total.

4. Sew one B/F unit to each side of the center square. Sew one 7” Fabric F square to each end

of one B/F unit. Sew this strip to the top of the center square. Repeat to make and sew a strip
