Pearson Safety Serviceswas originally founded in 2005 as a division of a Jackson, Tennessee based industrial contracting firm. In March 2010, Donna Pearson Chadwick, Mike Seals and Mitzi Seals formed Pearson Safety Services LLC and acquired PSS from the industrial contracting firm. Donna Pearson Chadwick, founder and Principal, is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Though the history of PSS is not long, her story includes over 20 years of experience in the safety field, and in 2002, she earned her CSP recognition, the highest recognition by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Donna is the President of PSS LLC and her main responsibilities include sales and marketing, training, client service and is the technical liaison for our clients and service professionals. Mike Seals, Principal and Chief Operating Officer, is a Certified Public Accountant. With a Bachelor of Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University, Mike started his career as a practicing CPA then migrated to private industry as CFO for a major national construction company. In 2001, Mike was founding partner and President of an industrial contracting firm

where his relationship with Donna began. Mike is responsible for the internal operations of PSS as well as the financial and business affairs. Mitzi Seals, Principal and Administrator, is the “voice” of PSS and is also instrumental in coordinating marketing activities including trade shows, marketing materials, client and marketing programs and supports the administrative functions of the corporate operations. She began her career at Opryland USA, where she was quickly promoted to Executive Assistant to the Director of Opryland Travel. Upon having her first child, she “retired” from her professional career to be a stay-at-home mom for 15 years and then, in 2006, reentered the work force for PSS. Since its founding in 2005 in Jackson, Tennessee, PSS has expanded into Memphis, Middle and East Tennessee markets. PSS has grown to over 20 employees and was awarded the coveted “Emerging Business Award” by The Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce. In addition, PSS has received the “National Women’s Business Enterprise Certification” granted by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council.

Creating a “Safety Culture” is at the heart of every program that PSS implements for our clients. The word culture is defined as “the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.” The goal of developing a safety culture is to instill the qualities that motivate workers to strive to achieve safety excellence.

Culture can also mean “the sum total of ways of living built up by a group of human beings.” Safety culture can only be developed if everyone on your staff works together. Just as a group is only as strong asits weakest member, your staff is only as safe as the least concerned worker. Our ultimate goal is to create an environment where each and every worker becomes personally committed and concerned about his or her own safety.

Safety cultures are ever-evolving. It is not a one-time accomplishment, it is a goal to keep at the center of daily activity for everyone involved in your plant or project. PSS helps our clients to understand and develop a safety culture specific to their needs, and works with the client to maintain that culture for the future.

Call us today and we can begin creating this culture for your tomorrow.

OUR CLIENTS

PSS markets its safety program to contractors, industrial plant facilities, retail establishments and government and local municipalities. In all walks of life there is a need for safe behavior. Our Monthly Service Program is established through meetings with our clients to determine their specific profile. From this information we can ascertain the average number of projects per year for a contractor, number of employee turn-over

by the business, any special training to fit their market niche and annual OSHA required training for both contractors and plants. PSS gathers and keeps confidential loss-run insurance information and EMR’s (experience modification rate) to help monitor and reduce accident exposures and potential raise in premiums when it comes time to renew business insurance the following year.

Our monthly program is tailored to each business. Site audits of contractor projects and plant facilities are set up and completed for compliance and are reported directly to management. This enables owners and managers to be pro-active with their safety program and provide input at the management level. Employees are assured management is diligent in keeping their work sites safe. PSS’s Monthly Service Program is the ‘tool’ at their disposal to make this happen.

PSS has several experienced and well trained consultants that are each assigned specific clients to work with. These consultants assist in creating a safety plan to implement throughout a calendar year and will provide a summary of savings in dollars and employee attitude toward the company. We at PSS take special pride in being a part of your best wishes for all your employees. Give us a call and see what PSS can do for your company.

One of the creative ways we’ve done this is through our SOS Program. SOS is a common acronym used as a message calling for help; and within PSS it means ‘Safety Orientation System’ or ‘Safety Of Self ’. It is a new hire orientation that goes well beyond this facet. It provides annual training required by OSHA and is a very thorough program for all prospective employees. We recommend it as an annual requirement as it isan excellent safety refresher course for even the most safety conscious employee.

Furthermore, PSS researches the home state of each of our clients regarding their participation in a state sponsored ‘Drug Free Workplace’ program. If they participate, then we complete the documentation and provide all the annual training to initially satisfy the program as well as any on-going training that maybe required. This program can offer anywhere from 5% to as much as 20% savings in the yearly workers compensation insurance premium.

PSS remains open to any of these special programs or any other custom program that may bring value to our clients. We’re here for you!

PSS prides ourselves on the development and/or implementation of special programs. We are constantly seeking new ways we can help our clients be safe. Some of these ways mandate PSS taking business risks in order to find innovative means of reintroducing well-established but sometimes taken for granted safety habits.

PSS, in the delivery of our professional services, offers many reporting tools that assist us in communicating to our clients critical information related to their safety program and culture. A small sampling of our reporting tools include the following:

The PSS SITE SURVEY is a tool that is used to communicate to executive management, project management or support staff the results of a safety audit performed at their facilities or on one of their project sites. It is specifically designed to pictorially and graphically communicate potential safety deficiencies and to also reinforce good safety practices. This tool provides a snap shop view of the safety practices being employed or being ignored at a site so that management can make the appropriate decisions in a timely fashion.

The PSS TRAINING MATRIX is a web based client service tool that allows our clients to search their employee training records on a secure, online environment. With an internet connection, our clients can log on to our proprietary training site and easily navigate to see their employee’s training records, determine employees’ training expiration dates and review other valuable information related to their employees training data base. As a result, our clients can always stay current with their employees’ training needs and allows PSS to proactively manage our clients training requirements.

For PSS, it’s not just about being OSHA compliant. It’s about making sure your workers leave the job site every night no worse than being a little tired from the day’s work. To do this, the workers need to be trained on how to keep themselves and their coworkers safe while on the job.Pearson Safety Services provides all types of safety training across the board. The most popular include fall protection, fleet safety, forklift training, 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA, drug free workplace and new hire orientations among others. Services are customized to meet the needs of the client, as well as provide OSHA required annual training courses. PSS conducts training in a relaxed and informative manner, and utilizes Power Point presentations, videos, DVD’s, handouts, visual aids, and hands-on training to get the message across effectively.PSS provides two full service training facilities, one in our hometown of Jackson, Tennessee, as well as a facility in Memphis. The PSS staff can develop a training program to meet your specific needs, where we will travel to your office, plant or job sites.Education is a prerequisite to developing a safety culture. When you need training, remember PSS is here to help.

With a strong emphasis on “taking ownership of personal safety”, the program is designed to help instill a personal level “buy in” to a company wide safety culture. Focusing on a company’s specific needs and concerns, course content for the SOS training PEARSON SAFETY SERVICES module generally includes:

• Distractions• HazardousCommunications•EmergencyProcedures • AccidentReporting• FallProtection• Electrical• LockOut/TagOut• Welding• ConfinedSpaces• PersonalProtectiveEquipment

Led by experienced and energetic training professionals, PSS uses live training tools to provide an interactive and engaging learning experience for all participants. Upon successful completion of the annual course, participants receive a badge that memorializes their accomplishment and provides the plant a visible protocol by which they can consistently monitor and audit all their contractors performing services at their plant.

The PSS SOS training module, is an exciting and fresh training tool geared specifically toward training contractors in performing work in manufacturing plants and general industry settings. The immense benefit to a manufacturing plant who engages PSS to implement this training to all contractors is knowing all contractors’ employees are being trained consistently and are being trained on relevant and pertinent topics that affect their plant operation every day.
