    skills, and build capacity among a schools leaders and teachers.

    In his study of the best-performing school systems around the world1 , Michael Barber identifies four practices that have the biggest impact on quality of teaching and learning, and are central to school improvement (SI):

    Building practical skills Using coaches to provide further support Selecting and developing effective instructional leaders to support ongoing

    development Enabling collaboration among leaders, teachers, and staff

    Pearson translates the research into clear, concrete actions. We have integrated these critical components of school improvement into a long-term, systematic, and sustainable program designed to deepen understanding, enhance skills, and build capacity among a schools leaders and teachers.

    Pearson SI specialist and school SI team conduct a needs assessment. SI specialist and school SI team create an implementation plan and define

    success criteria for the first phase (a minimum 6-month period). SI specialist provides professional development and support to build the

    capacity of the school SI team to implement the process. Leaders and teachers participate in:

    Regular face-to-face professional learning sessions Biweekly observa
