Pediatric Emergency Medicine Skills Course for Pediatricians Tuesday, May 13, 2014 Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children Wilmington, Delaware This is an intensive one day course designed for pediatricians who would like more experience in pediatric emergency scenarios. This course is geared specifically for the pediatrician working in an urgent care setting or emergency department and also for the pediatric hospitalist who may be called upon to respond to an emergency. We will provide hands on training in critical pediatric emergency medicine procedure skills. This will include pediatric specific airway management techniques, vascular access, sedation, and resuscitation procedures. Using high fidelity simulation, this course will also focus on the crisis resource management skills needed to successfully manage a critically ill pediatric patient. Learning Objectives Discuss priorities of care for the pediatric patient Identify indicators of illness and injury in the pediatric patient List unique features of the pediatric airway Describe adjuncts that may be used when securing a pediatric airway Describe techniques to obtain vascular access in a pediatric patient Identify subtle as well as acute radiographic findings in acute pediatric presentations Develop an approach to reading plain radiographs commonly obtained in the acute care setting List the appropriate medications used in pediatric resuscitation Discuss the newest recommendations for advanced life support in pediatric patients Manage complex children in the Emergency Department Develop an approach to common and unusual pediatric illnesses encountered in the ED General Information Site: The program will be held in the third floor Lecture Hall of the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, located at 1600 Rockland Road in Wilmington, DE. Disclosure: As a provider accredited by the ACCME, Nemours must ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor in its educational activities. All faculty participating in the development of continuing education content are required to disclose to Nemours their relevant financial relationships. This is an intensive one day course designed for pediatricians who would like more experience in pediatric emergency scenarios. Course Registration

Registration: This course is for physicians only. Because of the in-depth, hands-on nature of the program, registration will be limited. Early registration is advised. Advance registration is required and should be received by May 1, 2014. Registrations received by this date will be confirmed in writing.

Fees: The conference early bird registration fee is $270. After April 14, 2014, the registration fee is $300. This fee includes all course materials, refreshments, and meals as noted on the schedule.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given for written cancellations received before May 1, 2014. No refunds will be given after that date. The hospital is not responsible for any cancellations or change fees assessed by airlines, travel agencies, or hotels.
