Course Objectives Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Identify recent discoveries in basic, translational and clinical research in selected areas of pediatric nephrology and renal pathology

• Assess diagnostic tools in the approach to children with common fluid and electrolytes disorders

• Evaluate pathogenesis, complications and management of children with cystic renal diseases and Congenital Anomalies of the Kidney and Urinary Tract (CAKUT), nephrotic syndrome and complement deficient glomerulopathies

• Assess the impact of growth and nutrition in children with chronic kidney diseases (CKD) and the effects of use of recombinant growth hormone therapy in their management

• More effectively manage children with CKD, dialysis and transplant and its complications

• Evaluate pathogenesis, complications and management of children with hypertension and reno-cardiac interactions

• Explain the process of how to apply for research funds and publish manuscripts • Assess the importance of leadership styles and strengths to obtain successful

outcomes • Introduction to the routine handling, processing and reporting of kidney biopsies with

a systematic approach in the diagnosis of medical renal diseases • Assess the information obtained from kidney biopsies and its clinical correlation
