Page 2: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

Not only One Suffers• Some times we can be hurt, but we are not the only

one who suffers. Others can be hurt with our sufferings, too.

• Let me tell you a story of 4 year old girl called Sally.1. Once this little girl was having a good time in the front

yard, but Gregory2. A 15 years old boy came. He was in bad mood; he thought he

can change his mood by pushing Sally.• He ran towards her , screamed and pushed her down.

3. Sally was scare! She didn’t know what happened! • She was hurt and frightened!

Others can be Hurt with our Sufferings

• Who do you think was hurt by what happened to Sally? Only Sally?

• What about her Mom and Dad?a) Do you think they got hurt because they

love Sally?b) How do you think they felt when they saw

how scared Sally was?

• I think they were a little worried to see their daughter this way.

By our Harmful Actions, God is Hurt

• This is what sin does! It hurts! • By Gregory harmful actions, God is hurt,

• even more than Sally’s mother and father. Because God loves every single one of His children!

• God loves Sally, God loves Sally’s Mom and Dad.• And God loves Gregory, too.• Gregory act in a very selfish way. • He was thinking only of himself.

• Sometimes, you and I think of ourselves, too.• Sometimes we even think it is alright to think only of

ourselves.

We need to Ask for Forgiveness• Do you remember when we talking about

Baptism, about belonging to God’s family: • The Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit?

• Belonging to God’s family means that we share his life, (His Divine Life “Grace”)• that make us brother and sisters in God’s love• He loves each one of us!

1. When we sin, we need too say Sorry to those whom we hurt and to God.

2. We need to ask for His forgiveness for hurting him—by hurting the people he loves.

Page 6: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

How Do We Love?• In the receiving the Sacrament of Penance or

Reconciliation, we say Sorry for acting very unlike members of God’s family.

1. HOW DO WE PREPARE FOR THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION?

2. HOW DO WE GET READY TO SAY THAT WE ARE SORRY?

1. First we think: how we love God and how we love othersa) How did we love those who are closest to us: our families,

our parents?b) Have we treated our parents with respect?c) And those who care of us?d) Those who teach us?

Page 7: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

How Do We Love & Treat Others?

1) What about the people around us?a) Do we treat them with kindness as Jesus taught us? b) Or so we hurt them or fight them with words and

actions?

2) Are we grateful for everything we have? a) Or do we still wish sometimes that we would have

what others have?b) Do we take or steal from them? c) Do we are taking what doesn’t belong to us?

Page 8: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

How We Love and Treat Ourselves?

• We harm each other; we do violence to each other, • And sometimes WE DO VIOLENCE to ourselves,

too.a) Do we have pure heart or cluttered?b) Do we respect ourselves, our bodies?

• WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT OUR BODIES?• Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy

Spirit, who is in you, Whom you have received from God? • You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore

honor God with your bodies. (1 Cor. 6:19-20)

Page 9: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

Sin makes us Unlike Jesus• Do we tell the truth?

• Do we live in the truth or do we lie to our parents, our families, or our friends?

• Do we lie to ourselves? We lie with words.

• Do we see all the good we have?• Or are we jealous sometimes of what other people

have: friends or things?• Do you are satisfy with what you have?• Our do we are sad and envious and jealous.

Page 10: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

and actions, they are sins.a) Sin makes us so unlike

Jesus. b) And Sin doesn’t make us

happy, either.

Page 11: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

How Do We Respond to God?1) How do we respond to God, who

wants us to be happy and gave us these commands of love?a) We must reach up the Heart of God,

loving God in return. That is our response!

b) We want to praise the Name of God and honor his Name.

c) WE want to treat the name of God and Jesus with love and respect.

• We set aside a day, when we worship together and attend the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Page 12: Penance preparation for confession (part ii)

The Ten Commandments• These are the Ten

Commandments. They are just the beginning.
