WHAT TO PACKUnlike much of Florida, the Pensacola Bay Area is blessedwith four distinct seasons. Temperature averages rangefrom the mid-90s in summer to the mid-50s in winter.

Sudden showers arecommon along the GulfCoast during thesummer months, butthey don’t last long. Forthe rest of the year,comfortable, casual attirewill be appropriate formost occasions. If yourgroup is planning a moreformal gathering, youmay wish to pack a sportcoat, cocktail dress orpantsuit. Other itemsyou may find useful aresunscreen, a hat and

beach cover-up (when you’ve had enough sunshine), beachsandals, swimsuit, camera, film, binoculars, and perhaps abirding guidebook (You are bound to see plenty!).

CHURCHESThe Pensacola Bay Area has more than 200 churchesrepresenting multiple denominations. Please contact thePensacola Bay Area Convention & Visitors Bureau for alist.

GRATUITIESWhen a large group dines together, a 15% gratuity iscustomarily added to your bill. When you dine in smallergroups, however, a 20% gratuity is the average in resorttowns. Tips may also be given to hotel bell captains,concierges, taxi drivers and parking valets.

TAXSales tax of 7.5% will be added to goods, food andservices. You will also notice an occupancy tax on yourhotel bill of 4%. On Pensacola Beach there is anadditional land use fee.

DRIVING TO PENSACOLAFrom the north: Take I-65 south through Alabama.Pass the Evergreen exit and watch for Exit 69 toPensacola. Turn left off of the exit ramp ontoHighway 113, a two-lane rural road. You’ll be onthis road about 10 miles. Once it dead-ends, turnright for about 1 mile to Highway 29 (there’s aHardee’s on the corner). Turn left onto Highway 29,south into Florida. Stay on Highway 29 about 45minutes, and you’ll arrive in Pensacola.

REGIONAL MAPDRIVING TO PENSACOLAIf your hotel is on Highway 29, keep going south and you’re there. If you want to continue downtownor to the beaches, look for the I-10 East exit off ofHighway 29 (toward Tallahassee). You’ll only be onI-10 for a short time; the first exit (Pensacola/Pensacola Beach) is I-110 South. Exit, then watchfor the signs that say “Downtown” or “Beaches.”

From the west: Take I-10 east and turn right.It’s that easy! Turn off I-10 at the I-110 southinterchange and watch for the signs to take youdowntown or to the beaches.
