A Love Beyond Measure
Luke 6:35-38
The things I want to share comes from deep within
the depths of my heart…something that is so very
close to home for me and my family. I think of all
the amazing things that God shows us, and
teaches us through our ministries…and His never
ending love and great mercies for each one of us.
I have recently lost a God given granddaughter
this last Christmas….her name was Ellen. Ellen was a beautiful, amazing 15
yr old young lady with the amazing gift of Autism. You may say “How can
you say it is a gift, Sherry?” I can because I know that God sometimes allows
some of us to have many hardships, struggles, and inconveniences in order to
teach us, or many others very vital lessons in our lives. And Ellen is one of
them.
God gave her such of gift of great love for others….a wonderful amount of such
wisdom and understanding that we would not find out the true depths of what God had given her until she passed away. Her
father found out many things from her journal, and from little notes she left around the house for him.
You see, our Little Ellen was a young girl that felt the loss of a beautiful mother when she was 5 yrs old. We know that losing a
parent is a very, very hard time for any child to adapt to. She and her dad learned to struggle together and made the best of their
life together. Ellen looked up to her daddy, and loved him very deeply. She told me over and over how wonderful of a dad she
has. How well he took care of her and tried to give her his best. Such wisdom to come from a 15 yr old knowing that a lot of
teenagers today are not normally sensitive to such things but more likely self absorbed as we see in society today.
Ellen’s struggles and heart break was not only from the loss of her Mother, in which that was great enough, yet she knew what it
was like to be emotionally, physically and sexually abused by a grandfather. It wasn’t until after his death that she was able to
share all this pain that she hid so deeply within herself to her daddy. I listened to a Father that had so much anguish with in
him to know that his little girl has suffered such things from his own father…and he couldn’t do anything with all that he felt.
Along with all these things, Ellen was being bullied on Facebook, and in her emails. She began being bullied because she tried to
help someone understand that those she considered her friends were talking badly about her behind her back. In turn this young
lady began attacking her with ugly words, down casting her as not being good enough for her friendship. And on it went with
the friends of this girl against Ellen.
Ellen was heartbroken and could not understand all the “Why’s?” that they could be so vicious against her. Why they would
call her retarded, and not wanted. Degrading her about her looks, her identity…etc. Her Father took her off of Face book and
changed her email as any good parent would to stop this. Yet, not before another ugly email came through. Ellen grieved and
only desired that she would have good friends…people that would care about her.
These very same bullies beat Ellen up when they seen her out…kicking, punching, knocking her down...as she screamed her Fa-
ther could hear her and ran out to see them running off. He could hear the comments from one to the other as they ran and
knew that the name called out was the one that was on the emails sent out

35 But love ye your enemies, and do
good, and lend, hoping for nothing again;
and your reward shall be great, and ye
shall be the children of the Highest: for he
is kind unto the unthankful and to the
evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father
also is merciful.
37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:
condemn not, and ye shall not be con-
demned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you;
good measure, pressed down, and shaken
together, and running over, shall men
give into your bosom. For with the same
measure that ye mete withal it shall be
measured to you again.
Ellen was hurt with two bad breaks in her leg that needed surgery but they could not do the surgery because of all the swelling that took
place around it. Infection came in and gangrene began over taking in the process. It was the doctor’s decision that her leg must be taken
off to the hip. And they had to go to a specialty hospital in Colorado and they had to act quickly. Before her surgery, Ellen and I talked
and she knew that it was necessary and that she needed to be brave….much braver than I think I may have been…our little trouper was
prepared. She did have some misgivings but knew Jesus was with her.
Our little Ellen did not make it through the surgery…her heart could not handle what her body was going through. I was told just re-
cently from her Father that when Ellen was born she had a couple holes in her heart. That she needed surgery but they couldn’t have it
because of not being able to afford it. That Ellen would not be meant to normally have a long life…but this damage done to her did not
help it.
With all this I am sharing is this….any parent would have all the right in the world to be angry and to seek revenge for all these kids that
were bullying her and hurt her so badly. But what he found as he began reading his baby girl’s journal after she passed away was a spe-
cial message to her Daddy. And it was “Daddy please don’t seek revenge for what those kids did to me” She wanted him to promise
her…she wanted him to forgive them. One comment was that she would be with her Mommy if she didn’t make it.
You and I think about how tremendous of a promise this is to ask of someone…her own Daddy which was hurting so badly. But Ellen
knew what she was asking…she knew her Daddy and how badly he would be hurting. She was always thinking about him through each
day what she could do special for him..in making his lunch for work…or making him something to eat for supper. Ellen knew that this
would be something he would want to do..but she knew also that forgiveness frees us from carrying the heaviness of pain, the heaviness of
anger. She knew they did not deserve forgiveness..but Jesus spoke through Ellen as she was writing and ministering to her Daddy.
The day he came back to their apartment without Ellen..he told me he laid down on the bed and under the pillow was a little
note….”Daddy, don’t forget to pray every night before you go to bed”…..and he told me….he will never forget. In his deep pain….our
wonderful Father in Heaven is ministering to this hurting Father that lost his little girl…..and he told me “Sherry…how can I go against
what my little girl has asked me to do?” “I cannot do it”.
And in the midst of these weeks that have passed since Ellen has left us to be with Jesus….Her Daddy is reaching out and ministering to
other teens that are being bullied….to comfort, to encourage, to uplift these teens that feel they have no place to go with their hurt….Jesus
has chosen this Father to reach a hurting world and share love and forgiveness. People have looked at him and been in wonder as he
shares with them what he must do…but this special Father stands by his word…and helps those that are hurting to have a voice. To
know someone understands and is here for them!
As I write this…these bully’s that have hurt our little Ellen…have been acknowledged that we know what they have done…at least a
few…yet…we do not know in the long run whether they will ever come to repentance….but that is our Lord’s business and He will
choose what is to come in their lives. For us….we take this lesson and learn what true love and mercy is…Just as Jesus has forgiven
us….as we have not deserved….He in His great mercy has kept you and I.
We must remember this one very vital message as I am closing here…And that is that HIS ways are higher than ours..And His thoughts
are higher than ours. We in our flesh war against fleshly things and knowing we feel anger rise up in our hearts when we hear of stories
as what has happened to our Ellen and her Father. We understand what rights we have as a human being…as a parent, a child in this
world to be treated with respect and to be protected by the law of the land that we live in. And rightly so…. yet when God uses a very
special person that He can speak through with a message so much greater than we in our human minds and hearts can comprehend on
our own…we must take it to heart and learn Gods greater value in all of us. He used a precious, young and beautiful girl to speak vol-
umes through to reach you and I today.
Hosea 14:8-9 9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them?
for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them
Matt 22:37-40 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is
like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets.
The Secret
By Sis Jean Williams
I met God in the morning, When my day was at its best and his presence came as sunrise like a glory in my breast. All day long His Presence lingered, all day long He stayed with me and we sailed in perfect calmness o`re a very troubled sea. Other ships were blown and battered, other ships were sore distressed. but the winds that seemed to drive them brought to us a peace and rest. Then I thought of other mornings with a keen remorse of mind. When I too had loosed the moorings and his presence left behind. So, I think I know the secret, learned from many a troubled way you must seek God in the morning, if you want Him through the day.
“Stone Satan Right Into His Pit” By Samuel B. Allen January 27, 2012
Verse #1 For years I have watched them stoning God’s Son, With words and ideals that Satan has picked Stones of sin that ought not to be thrown That’d make Sodom and Gomorrah both sick. Chorus: It appears like it’s time, we throw stones of our own Lord, give us a Gospel with a powerful kick Give it to Christians who has a great arm To stone Satan, right into his pit. Verse #2 They say, through Jesus, they can heal the sick Yet, hospitals are full and often abused The sickness of sin, has got to be liked Just sat down and watch the news. Verse #3 Don’t have strong arm, but love serving Christ I study His Word and I pray as I sleep I go to His service where Christians are nice “Stones of Sin” makes me crawl off and weep.
Verse #4 Sometimes like Elijah I feel so alone, I pray: Sweet Jesus” am I all that is left? I listen for your answer but just the wind blowing “Can’t hear You, Lord, have I gone deaf?”
ANSWERED PRAYER
A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a small,
desert like island. The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no other recourse but to
pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between
them and stay on opposite sides of the island.
The first thing they prayed for was food. - The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of
the land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained barren.
After a week, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another ship was
wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman who swam to his side of the land. On the other side of the island,
there was nothing.
Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, more food. - The next day, like magic, all of these were given to
him. However, the second man still had nothing.
Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could leave the island. - In the morning, he found
a ship docked at his side of the island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave the sec-
ond man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to receive God's blessings, since none of his
prayers had been answered.
As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven booming, "Why are you leaving your
companion on the island?" "My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the first man
answered. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not deserve anything."
"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for that, you would
not have received any of my blessings."
"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "What did he pray for that I should owe him anything?"
"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."
For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits of our prayers alone, but those of another praying for us.

100 Points To Get Into Heaven100 Points To Get Into Heaven100 Points To Get Into Heaven100 Points To Get Into Heaven
A man dies and goes to heaven. St. Peter meets him at the pearly gates.
St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I
give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in."
"Okay" the man says, "I attended church every Sunday"
"That's good, says St. Peter, " that's worth two points"
"Two points?" he says. "Well, I gave 10% of all my earnings to the church"
"Well, let's see," answers Peter, "that's worth another 2 points. Did you do anything else?"
"Two points? Golly. How about this: I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."
"Fantastic, that's certainly worth a point, " he says.
"hmmm...," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart."
"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"
"THREE POINTS!!" the man cries, "At this rate the only way I get into heaven is by the grace of God!"
"Come on in!"
Sleeping In ChurchSleeping In ChurchSleeping In ChurchSleeping In Church
A man sobering up from the night before is sitting through the
Sunday sermon, finding it long and boring. Still feeling hung over and tired, he finally nods off.
The priest has been watching him all along, noticing his apparent
hangover and is disgusted. At the end of the sermon, the preacher decides to make an example of him.
He says to his congregation, "All those wishing to have a place in
heaven, please stand."
The whole room stands up except, of course, the sleeping man.
Then the preacher says even more loudly, "And he who would like to
find a place in hell please STAND UP!"
The weary man catching only the last part groggily stands up, only to find that he's the only one standing.
Confused and embarrassed he says, "I don't know what we're voting on here, Father, but it sure seems like you and me are the only
ones standing for it!"
The Lord is My ShepherdThe Lord is My ShepherdThe Lord is My ShepherdThe Lord is My Shepherd
A Sunday School teacher decided to have her 2nd grade class memorize Psalm 23, one of the most quoted passages in the Bible.
She gave the children a month to learn the chapter.
One little boy was excited about the task, but he just couldn't memorize the Psalm. Although he practiced and practiced, he could
hardly get past the first line. The day came for the children to recite Psalm 23 before the congregation. The little boy was nervous.
When his turn came, he stepped up to the microphone and proudly said, "The Lord is my Shepherd and that's all I need to know!"
Feeling SickFeeling SickFeeling SickFeeling Sick
A little nine year old girl was in church with her mother when she
started feeling ill.
"Mommy" she said "Can we leave now?"
"No" her mother replied.
"Well, I think I have to throw up!"
"Then go out the front door and around to the back of the church and throw up behind a bush."
In about two minutes the little girl returned to her seat.
"Did you throw up?" her mother asked.
"Yes" the little girl replied.
"Well, how could you have gone all the way to the back of the church and return so quickly?"
"I didn't have to go out of the church, Mommy" the little girl replied, "They have a box next to the front door that says 'for the sick'."
