Understand the concept of percentages and investigate the relationship between percentages and decimals. 2. Perform computations and solve problems involving percentages. Use concrete materials and drawings to demonstrate percentages. e.g. Use ten by ten grids to discuss the equivalent percentages of fractions and decimals. For example the fraction has a decimal equivalent of 0.5, and 0.5 has an equivalent percentage of 50%. ( = 0.5 or 50 % ) Pose and solve problems involving profit and loss, simple interest, dividend, commission and discount. Students will be able to : i. Express percentage as the number of parts in every 100. ii. Change fractions and decimals to percentages and vice versa. i. Find the percentage of a quantity. ii.
