Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am takes to the internet to deny claims he attacked controversial blogger
Perez Hilton. The star says that the first he knew about the claims after a friend texted him about
Perez's Twitter message which read: "I was assaulted by Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas and his
security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke." Will.i.am started his own
Twitter account and linked to a video he made on his dipdive account. "I hit you Perez? C'mon dude, I
didn't hit you," he says in the clip. "Instead of calling police you Twitted that I assaulted you. Sounds like
somebody wants mad attention." He added: "They are lies. Shame on you. Shame on your behaviour.
That's just messed up." Toronto police confirm that Hilton had contacted them with an assault allegation,
but had no comment pending an investigation. We love a good celebrity smack down. Even if its
fictitious.

Paul Epworth, who co-produced Florence and the Machine's album, has won the top prize at the Music Producers' Guild Awards, which also doubles as a Brit. Epworth was named producer of the year by the MPG, meaning he was also handed the Brit Award for best producer. It is the second year the two prizes have been awarded together. The main Brits ceremony will be held on Tuesday. As well as Florence, Epworth has also worked with Friendly Fires, Bloc Party, Jack Penate, The Big Pink and Plan B. Singer Florence Welch was at the MPG ceremony in London on Thursday to present him with the two trophies. Epworth started his career working in a council-funded recording studio in Harlow, Essex, before becoming a tea boy at Sir George Martin's Air Studios. "I wouldn't be here without the freedom that the digital revolution has given me creatively," he said. "But also I know I'm lucky to have had that old tuition from people who worked with The Beatles, The Doors, The Beach Boys." He is now working on new Florence material, as well as working on his own album and writing with Adele. Dizzee Rascal was also at the MPG ceremony, accepting the award for best album, while Muse picked up best single for Uprising. Other recipients included Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, who signed U2 and Bob Marley. He received the outstanding contribution award. Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos turned up to present the trophy for best breakthrough producer to Paul Savage, former drummer with Scottish band The Delgados. MPG chairman Steve Levene, who won the Brit Award for best producer in 1984 for his work with Culture Club, said the biggest challenge for current producers was making money in the face of falling record sales and piracy. "Unlike an artist who can go and play live, most of us are not very good in the live arena," he said. "We're better behind the scenes. So we can't go out and play clubs and earn a living."

"Lungs" is the debut album for this quirky English pop rock group which features a collection of songs that that mixes different genres, going from fast and furios rock and roll to sweeping blues inspired ballads filled with moody guitar riffs. The singles are definitely the best tracks on the album. The impressive track "Dog Days Are Over" is sensitive yet fierce. Next is a slightly more reserved track, "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)", which leads her debut collection to be a glorious and awesome CD. Another song named "I'm not calling you a Liar" is a subject on adult contemporary territory which is really beautiful and emotional. Florence and the Machine's lyrics and musical style are completely unique and really make this album a must-have essential classic.

Ke$ha album lacks variety, noveltyKe$ha’s debut album “Animal,” released on Jan. 5, should probably add the word “House” to the end of its title. The perpetually drunk singer’s debut album often depicts the lifestyle and activities that take place in many Greek houses across the Dartmouth campus (although admittedly in a slightly trashier way).
When “Animal” hit the top of the charts in its first week on sale, Ke$ha jumped on the bandwagon of her contemporaries Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, whose music also features quirky lyrics, fast paced beats and the major use of Auto-Tune.
Ke$ha’s credibility as an artist relies on the fact that she writes her own music — she had an impressive repertoire of 200 songs to choose from for inclusion on her first album. Yet, unlike Gaga and other singer-songwriters, Ke$ha seems to lack originality. At times, Ke$ha’s music reminds me of that of Disney Channel star Ashley Tisdale, but with slightly more mature lyrical content. If I had to place Ke$ha in a musical genre, I would classify her sound as “Disney-frat-club-music.”
The album begins with a catchy tune titled “Your Love Is My Drug,” which establishes right off the bat how much Ke$ha sounds like Katy Perry. The track is at once promising and discouraging in terms of Ke$ha’s creative potential — despite her playful, signature ability to alternate between rapping and singing, she relies on overused motifs, riffing (or perhaps ripping) off Amy Winehouse and Rihanna’s songs from 2009 about rehab.
The album’s second track, the fraternity basement staple “Tik Tok,” sounds like it was made solely with the goal of topping the charts in mind. Showcasing Ke$ha’s intent to have fun, the upbeat song begins with the lyrics, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.” The single hit number one in an astounding nine countries, also having the most digital downloads of a song by a female artist in its opening week. “Tik Tok” is meant for the clubs.
Thus it is no surprise that the media has cast Ke$ha as an out-of-control party girl — a persona Ke$ha has no qualms with, judging from the recent fake video she circulated of her and a group of friends drunkenly defacing the Hollywood sign.
Sometimes, however, it seems like this is Ke$ha’s only persona. Despite some varied subject matter, the songs on the rest of the album sound remarkably similar to the first two.
More problematic is the fact that Ke$ha’s homogenous style seems like an imitation of a host of other pop singers — “Take It Off,” “Ki$$ N Tell” and the album’s title track “Animal” sound like Auto-Tuned rip-offs of Perry’s singles.
This is less of a problem in “Hungover,” “Blind,” “Dancing With Tears In My Eyes” and “Boots & Boys,” which feature less Auto-Tune. In these less-produced songs, I could hear Ke$ha’s natural tone. And although the beats may all be the same, her lyrical content sometimes surprises and her voice is good enough on its own, without the help of technology.
“Animal” concludes with her second single “Blah Blah Blah,” which along with “Tik Tok” helps carry the album. The song features the band 3OH!3, and represents the
idea of “female players,” with Ke$ha proclaiming her interest in pure physical attraction, free from commitment. “Blah Blah Blah” helps to spread her message of female empowerment and diminishes the stereotype that men are the only ones looking for potential hook-ups, not relationships.
Just looking at the titles alone, “Animal” is a party album, showcasing Ke$ha’s trashy-yet-classy style as a songwriter and an avid partier. She hit the mainstream hard and quick with her first singles, which showed her potential, but lacks in freshness with several comparisons to other artists. Hopefully, her second album will illuminate her talent as a songwriter further and not focus purely on her party-girl image.
The party don't start 'til I walk in," Ke$ha informed us on her debut single. Three months on and the party's still raging swing for pop's most brazen newcomer. After a nine-week reign at the top of the US chart, during which she held the Haiti crew off the No.1 spot, she's now back with 3OH!3 collab 'Blah Blah Blah'. Armed with a bottle of Jack, we paid her a visit to talk cheesy chat-up lines, those Uffie comparisons, and.. well, to have some "f**k off-good fun"!
You've had a mad few months. How are you coping with it all?"The last eight months of my life have been pretty insane. I don't think you can really be a total party animal and be number one. You have to pace yourself a bit. There's been lots of flying and lots of different time zones, but jetlag is really the only negative thing about this. Jetlag is retarded!"
How did you celebrate the success of 'TiK ToK'?"There wasn't a specific thing I did to celebrate, but I did treat my mum by taking her to a spa. I'm not really a big spender so I didn't do anything outrageous. I'm just down to have a good time and I want people to have fun. People get so pretentious about pop music so I do feel like I'm fighting this battle. My record is honest and fun. It's a celebration of youth and life and going out and getting crazy. I'm about non-pretentious irreverence and f**k off good fun!"
What sort of chart position are you hoping for with 'Blah Blah Blah'?"Obviously I hope it goes to number one, but who knows what's going to happen? I just hope people like it. It's a cool song about a woman talking to a man the way men always speak to women. If you listen to any rap or pop station, the way men talk to women is just so cheeky and a little bit degrading. I'm not offended by it though - I just think it's funny. This track is meant sarcastically. It's me throwing it back."
What's the inspiration behind the video?"Well, it's a funny video to go with a funny song. It's set at a bar/bowling alley and all these dudes are trying to hit on me, but I'm just like, 'Really? You're so annoying!' Some guys ask you what your middle name is as if that's really going to help their chances! Their lines are lame."
So what is a good chat-up line?"I heard a good one the other day: 'Did you just fart? Because you blew me away!' It's great, but horrible."
Have you thought about the third single from the album?"If I could pick any song on the record, I'd want it to be 'Stephen', but I think we're going for either 'Your Love Is My Drug' or 'Take It Off'. 'Stephen' and Animal' are my two favourites on the album though. 'Stephen' shows the vulnerable side of me but it's still a funny pop song. It's me saying I'm totally obsessive and in love with this guy, but he's blowing me off in a pretty funny way. I like 'Animal' because it's one of the last songs I wrote for the record and it just embodies everything I think about humans - it's my take on human beings as an animal."
A lot of fans are comparing your music to Uffie's. In fact, the beginning of 'TiK ToK' sounds remarkably similar to 'Tthhee Ppaarrttyy' by Justice and Uffie..."I've never heard the song, so I don't really know, but people are comparing me because they have a very one-dimensional view of who I am. You know, I only have two songs out right now. When people have a better understanding of who I am, what I stand for, what I look like and what my shows are like, I think that's going to dispel the comparisons."
I have the track here. Would you like a listen?"Ooh I like that song! I don't see the similarity though. I understand that we're both white girls, but we're so different in lots of ways. People compared my s**t to 'Pop The Glock' by Uffie the other day and I just don't hear it. Am I crazy? I don't hear it!"
You were at the Brits earlier this month. What did you think of the performances?"I'm such a fan of Lily Allen - I think she's so sweet! Who else? Well, Dizzee Rascal with Florence, that was amazing! Cheryl Cole gave a really good performance too, but you can really tell when someone's not singing live. It's a shame."
Are you expecting to be nominated next year?"I'm not expecting to be but it would be badass! It would be such an honour - it's like the Grammys for the UK. I'm definitely up for performing there. I'd just love to be on that stage, you know? I'd even sweep up the glitter afterwards!"
