Easy To Make Punjabi Organic
Rajma With Rice Balls Recipe
For everything that’s organic!!!!
On this lazy Sunday, let’s try to make something Spicy and Indian but above all healthy. That
is why we have chosen a recipe that is not only organic but gives a complete festive feeling and
is perfect for a social gathering. “Punjabi Organic Rajma with Rice Balls”. It is so tasty that
one bite of it could take you to a beautiful north Indian dream. So let’s get started.
For Punjabi Organic Rajma
Ingredients
: 1. Organic Rajma (Kidney Beans) – 1 cup
2. Water – 4 cups
3. Salt – to taste
4. Garlic – 1 tsp, minced
5. Tomatoes – 2 cups, puree
6. Organic Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
7. Organic Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
8. Organic Chaat Masala – 1 tsp
9. Organic Garam Masala – 1 tsp
10. Organic Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
11. Green Chili – to taste (optional)
12. Organic Oil (Health conscious people can take organic extra
virgin olive oil) – 2 tbsp
13. Onions – 2 medium, finely chopped
14. Ginger – 1 tsp, minced
15. Cilantro – for garnishing, finely chopped
16. Organic Black pepper – to taste
Method:
1. Wash and soak the Kidney Beans in 4 cups of water overnight.
2. Put the Rajma in a pressure cooker, along with the water that you soaked it in.
3. Turn the flame on high and add in the Turmeric Powder, Some Salt and Green Chili.
4. Cooking time in the Pressure Cooker – 3 whistles, lower flame and cook for another 30 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, in a medium size pan on medium heat, add in the Oil.
6. Allow it to heat up and add in the Onions.
7. Add in a little Salt and cook till the moisture evaporates from the Onions. Stir frequently.
8. Add in the Ginger and Garlic, mix well and cook till the Onions start to brown.
9. Add in the Tomato Puree. Mix again.
10.Cook till the oil starts to separate. Keep an eye on it and keep stirring frequently.
11.Add in Coriander Powder, Chaat Masala & Garam Masala.
12.Add in a little water (about 1/4 cup) to help mix in the dry spices and to prevent it from burning.
13.Cook for a couple of minutes.
14.Open the Pressure Cooker once the pressure has gone and add in the Rajma to the masala.
15. Make sure Rajma (kidney beans) is well cooked and should have opened up a bit.
16. Mix well and allow it to come to a boil again.
17. Add in some of the fresh Cilantro leaves and keep some for garnishing.
For Organic Rice Balls:
Ingredients
1. Salt to taste
2. Organic Rice – ½ glass
3. Organic Oil – 2 tbs
4. Organic Rai – a pich
5. Organic asafetida (Hing)-a pinch
6. Red chili – 1(sliced)
7. Water – 1 glass
8. Organic Oil (for frying rice)- 100 ml
For Organic Rice Balls:
Method:
Put a wok on medium heat. Add oil, asafetida,
and red chili in it. Cook for few seconds then
add water with rice and salt. Cook until rice
absorbs whole water and gets really soft. It
would take around half hour to get perfectly
cooked. It is ok if you cook it for a longer
time period leading to soggy and mashed rice.
When it is ready, allow it to cool. Then blend
the cooked rice with the help of a blender or
a mixer. Or you can also mash the rice with
hands or a stone. Now take another pan, pour
100ml of oil in it and heat it on high flame.
Make small round balls of rice and fry them in
it until it gets golden brown.
Serving:
Keep 4 to 5 rice balls in it, and pour hot Rajma
on it.
