COMPANY/COMMERCIAL - Julia Mahmood [email protected] DDI: 01252 367532 Julia spent many years working as a senior in-house lawyer for major corporations in the pharmaceutical, oil and gas industries where she acquired extensive experience as a commercial transactions lawyer. Julia’s position often necessitated her adopting the role of commercial negotiator in relation to a broad range of transactions and in consequence she gained an in-depth understanding of both the many legal and commercial issues “at the sharp end” of business. As a result Julia is particularly well qualified to advise business owners and managers both strategically and in relation to specific projects as well as on matters of regulatory compliance.

EMPLOYMENT - Mel McCrum [email protected] DDI: 01252 367523 Mel joined the firm in 1992 and was subsequently appointed a partner in 1996. Initially he handled a case load comprising both employment and commercial litigation but due to the seemingly unending increase in both the scale and complexity of employment law, he has increasingly specialised in employment law. Over the course of the last 20 years he has accumulated vast experience and knowledge of the field and deservedly gained a reputation as one of the leading practitioners in the area. Mel has also honed his skills as an advocate in numerous claims before employment tribunals in London and across the South of England.

EMPLOYMENT - Simona Hamblet [email protected] DDI: 01252 367517 Simona who is also a Partner in the employment team specialises in providing practical and tailored advice to businesses and HR professionals. She is known for her energy and positive drive in making a difference to employers by helping to manage relationships and risks. Simona provides guidance which balances complex, and sometimes restrictive laws, with the need to make essential business decisions, which may sometimes conflict. In addition to dealing with the litigation aspects should matters reach that stage, she also regularly provides seminars and workshops to clients and external bodies.

DISPuTE RESOLuTION - James Palmer [email protected] DDI: 01252 367512 James has worked in major local law firms since qualifying in 2002 and is the Partner who heads up our dispute resolution team. James undertakes a broad range of commercial litigation work including property and contract disputes, landlord and tenant, professional negligence, building construction and disputes between business partners and company directors. James can give practical advice to help settle cases efficiently and avoiding costly court proceedings, sometimes by mediation. However, if necessary, James has the experience to handle cases in the County Court up to the Court of Appeal.

DISPuTE RESOLuTION - Emma Clist [email protected] DDI: 01252 367533 Emma joined Wheelers in November 2008 and after completing her training contract was admitted as a solicitor in July 2011. Emma relishes the opportunity to work closely with clients to achieve the best possible outcome to any challenges they are confronted with. She has accumulated considerable experience of advising and assisting clients in a wide range of disputes both in the High Court and County Court including debt recovery, contract disputes and landlord and tenant issues (including possession claims). Emma has particular expertise in dealing with inheritance, trusts and probate disputes and is currently part way through a three year course leading to membership of the prestigious Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists.

DISPuTE RESOLuTION - Kate Cooper [email protected] DDI: 01252 367525 Kate initially qualified as a barrister before electing to become a Solicitor. She trained and practiced at two leading London firms for nearly ten years, before choosing to work locally. Kate has considerable experience in contractual disputes, professional negligence, fraud, banking, finance, arbitration, insolvency and defamation. She has extensive High Court litigation experience and has acted on various matters involving substantial international elements.

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY - Nick MacIntyre [email protected] DDI: 01252 367534 After qualifying as a solicitor in 1994, Nick spent much of the next 10 years working in the commercial property teams of some of the leading law firms in London including, Kennedys and Nabarro Nathanson where he gained experience in a number of key sectors including retail, licenced premises, industrial and residential development. In 2003 Nick moved out of London to take up a position with a large regional firm in Reading where he continued to build on his already considerable knowledge and expertise.
