Performance Opportunities

LIA Youth Repertory— for young perform-

ers interested in developing a variety of

artistic disciplines. This group focuses on

creating song and dance routines, and

musical numbers to perform at events

around the community.

Recitals— Each year Laity presents two

recitals. The first is called “A Work in

Progress.” This recital gives parents an

opportunity to see the developmental

changes and growth of their child as they

learn new skills . The last recital of the year

called “The Formal Recital” showcases the

best of what the student has learned

throughout the course of the year.

Caption describing picture or graphic. In 1989 the Laity Institute of the Arts was

established to address one key area that has substantial impact on the lives of youth, teens and adults in the surrounding com-munities; namely, consistent quality-based programming in the arts.

LEAP™ (Laity Educational Arts Program) is a comprehensive and fun after school pro-gram designed to provide a basic study in all major areas of dance, music, theatre and visual arts. Classes are aligned directly to the national and state common core stand-ards for grades K-8.

Laity’s mission is to stimulate the intellec-tual and artistic minds of students in grades K-8 in dance, music, drama and art through LEAP™. In order to achieve this mission, certain components have been put in place along with the appropriate subject matter, rigor, meaningful content, goals of comple-tion and measurable objectives. Ongoing assessments are also implemented to accu-rately measure skills learned.

Laity holds two recitals each year for LEAP™; one informal, which is a work-in-process, and a formal recital which is the culmination of what the students have learned throughout the whole school year.
