(ATI) was contracted by VELUX America, Inc. to evaluate their VELUX SUN TUNNEL with 9" turrets and 9" fire band in accordance with ASTM E 108, Section 10. The tubular daylighting device met the requirements for Burning Brand, Class B rating. This report details the test conducted and the results obtained. Test Methods: The test specimens were evaluated in accordance with ASTM E 108-04, Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Roof Coverings (Burning Brand Test, Class B). Test Description: The tubular daylighting device was tested as received, in a horizontal position and in a 12 mph wind. A fire brand constructed of 3/4" by 3/4" by 6" strips of Douglas Fir forming a grid of approximately 6" square and 2-1/4" thick was ignited and placed at the base of the tubular daylighting device. The brand was allowed to continue burning until it was completely consumed and all evidence of flame, glow and smoke had disappeared from the brand and tubular daylighting device. Any observations and damage to the plastic portion of the tubular daylighting device were recorded.
