FACILITIESYou’ll find attractive practice and performing facilities at Lakeland, including Wenger practice rooms, a Yamaha MLC-100 keyboard lab equipped with 11 CLP-240 Clavinovas, a computer lab for music composition and large band and choir rehearsal rooms. The attractive 500-seat Bradley Theatre with a Yamaha CFIII-S concert grand piano is the centerpiece of performances on campus.

FINANCIAL AIDGenerous performing arts scholarships and

other financial aid are available for music and

non-music majors at Lakeland University.

The Helen Boatwright scholarship is

available to incoming freshmen students

who participate in band or choir. These

scholarships range from $500 to $3000,

and are renewable for your four-years at

Lakeland University.

STATE MUSIC ORGANIZATIONSLakeland University students are active members and participants of Wisconsin state music organizations affiliated with their disciplines, each of these organizations provides a link to the professional world and are great resources for networking, job opportunities and professional development. Many of these organizations offer a yearly conference, and many of our student have participated in honor bands and choirs affiliated with these organizations. Please contact a Lakeland faculty member or check the bulletin boards in Verhulst for more information.

The Wisconsin Music Educators Association (music education), the National Band Association-Wisconsin Chapter (band), the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association (choir), and the Michibago Music Teachers Association (private teaching).

MASTER CLASSES AND GUEST ARTISTSLakeland University hosts a wide variety of performances through the Krueger Fine Arts Series, and combined with visiting guest artists of the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, are able to hold a variety of Master Classes and Guest Performances and Lectures on campus. A partial list of past guest artists, concerts and master classes include: Yakov Kasman, piano; Anton Nels, piano; Shelby Banks, soprano; Helen Boatwright, soprano; the Ahn Trio, violin, cello, piano, First Aid Kit, band; Ain’t I a Woman, multimedia ensemble; Karen Russel, writer; and many more.

SHEBOYGAN AREA MUSICAL ENSEMBLESLakeland University students throughout the years have enjoyed participating with these local ensembles either as an active musician or a spectator. Many of these organizations have a full concert season and many welcome new members. Contact a Lakeland faculty member for more information or if we can put you in touch with one of these great off-campus organizations: The Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the Lakeshore Chorale, the Sheboygan Theatre Company, and many local municipal concert bands in Kiel, Sheboygan, Oostburg, and Plymouth.

LAKELAND UNIVERSITY MUSIC CAMPLakeland music students have opportunities to teach at the annual music camp that brings hundreds of middle and high school musicians to campus for a week each year.

THEATRELakeland’s performing arts students enjoy the opportunity each year to collaborate and perform a major musical and a dramatic production in the 500-seat Bradley theatre on campus.

PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIESIn addition to top-notch training from Lakeland’s accomplished instructors, you’ll find a welcoming campus where you can perform and practice teaching while you learn.
