Everyone has a story to tell. Hear real people tell it like it is—or was. As the culmination of a Connecting Communities collaboration, Milwaukee-based Ex Fabula presents an engaging program of storytelling by community participants featuring live music with Count This Penny, an Appalachian pop music band from Madison by way of Tennessee. A perfect musical complement to storytelling, Count This Penny has been featured on Prairie Home Companion, Wisconsin Public Radio and Television. Ex Fabula (Latin for “from stories”) believes in the power of stories to define lives, shape community, and bring diverse groups together through shared experiences.

Milk comes from the grocery store, gas from a pump, and electricity from a switch—right? Wrong. Behind all the things we use and consume there are tales to tell, tales that are often hidden or go untold. How To Lose A Mountain explores the relationships between us and our “stuff” while illuminating the journey from origin to consumption. Join the Arts Center in welcoming back choreographer Cassie Meador and Dance Exchange as we proudly present our first co-commissioned dance work.
