ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS• To register for a diploma programme, a candidate

must hold an NSSC or equivalent qualification, obtained in not more than three (3) examination sittings, with a minimum score of 22 in five (5) subjects on the UNAM Evaluation Scale.

• English is a compulsory subject and should have been obtained at English as First/Second Language NSSC Ordinary level, symbol D or higher.

• A candidate can be admitted to the programme through the University’s Mature Age Entry Scheme.

DIPLOMA TRANSLATIONADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:To be admitted to this programme, a student must be in possession of at least a 3 year Diploma recognised at NQF level 6 or equivalent or through the Mature Age Entry Scheme. Subject to the general regulations of the University, applicants will be admitted to the programme only after successful completion of an aptitude test.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:• To register for an undergraduate degree programme,

a candidate must hold a valid Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) or a recognised equivalent qualification.

• English is a compulsory subject and should normally have been obtained as a Second Language at NSSCO level with a minimum C-symbol (B-symbol for Bachelor of Arts: English), or English as a First Language at NSSCO level with a minimum D-symbol (C-symbol for Bachelor of Arts: English).

• A candidate should obtain a minimum of 25 points on the UNAM Evaluation Point Scale in his/her five (5) best subjects (of which English must be one) to be admitted to undergraduate studies.

• Admission can also be considered for applicants who qualify through the Mature Age Entry Scheme, upon successful completion of the relevant examinations as set out in the General Rules and Regulations.

POSTGRADUATE Programmes

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA HERITAGE CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENTADMISSION REQUIREMENTS• Bachelor’s degree or a recognised equivalent

qualification in the areas of Social Sciences, that include, but not limited to History, Archaeology, Anthropology, African Studies, Ethnography, Tourism, Geography.

MASTER OF ARTSADMISSION REQUIREMENTS• Prospective candidates must be in possession of a

relevant Bachelor’s Honours degree at NQF level 8 with at least a C-grade average (i.e 60%) or a good postgraduate diploma with a minimum average of 60% from a recognised institution.

The Faculty may award the degree Master of Arts (MA) in the following disciplines, subject to the general regulations for Master’s degree studies.

relevant Bachelor’s Honours degree at NQF level 8 with at least a C-grade average (i.e 60%) or a good postgraduate diploma with a minimum average of 60% from a recognised institution.

The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences offers a wide range of undergraduate & postgraduate qualifications, across a number of philosophical, linguistic, spiritual, psychological, artistic and human disciplines,

amongst others. The Faculty boasts a number of highly qualified academics at professor level, while others hold doctoral and masters degrees.

UNDERGRADUATE Programmes

MASTER OF ARTS IN CLINICAL/COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY MASTER OF ARTS IN INDUSTRIAL PSYCHOLOGYADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:Admission into the programme takes place every alternative year. To be admitted to the programme, acandidate shall be required to have:• At least a C-grade average (i.e., 60% and above) in

one of the following qualifications:a) a 4-year B.Psych Honours degree, orb) a 4-year Honours degree in Clinical Psychology,

orc) an equivalence of a level 8 qualification

(in Clinical Psychology) on the Namibian Qualifications Authority.

• Undergo a selection process, which might include psychometric assessment, assessment centre activities, individual interviews, and two reference reports.

• In addition, other University of Namibia admission requirements for Master’s degree programmes will apply.

MASTER OF ARTS IN ENGLISH STUDIESADMISSION REQUIREMENTS• A four year Bachelor’s Honours degree with English

as a major (Level 8) or an equivalent qualification is required, with a minimum average of 60%.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS• Masters degree or equivalent qualification from a

recognised institution of higher learning in the chosen field of study.
