resources to help students make the important
decisions regarding choosing their GCSEs, A Levels
and university courses. There are also links to
helpful advice about applying to university. Please
see the document here.
Interested in becoming a teacher?

Message from the Head Teacher
As we’ve just passed the halfway point in this academic year, we have reviewed the effectiveness of this bulletin since September. We launched it intending to reduce the number of emails we send you and that has been very successful. We are aware though, that sometimes important information can get buried, so we are looking at further streamlining what we send to you. We know that your time is valuable and aim to give you an easy route to the information you need. Starting next week, our weekly bulletin will be more of a list of clear links to online posts and events. If a headline looks appropriate to you or your child, click for further information. This will make it easier to get to the detail that’s important to you.
We urge you to read the email each week as it’s our primary means of communicating general information to you.
We will continue to send specific emails where content is relevant and appropriate to you the recipient and will send text messages in emergencies such as closure days. In addition, we are investing in a new parent ‘app.’ SIMS Parent will enable us to communicate more effectively with you for messages, timetables, reports, achievements, attendance and contact information. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (look for SIMS Parent) and we will be sending out login details over the coming weeks. There is also a student version of the app which we’ll introduce shortly.

Summer Term Golf Lessons
Perins School golf lessons will recommence after Easter at Alresford Golf Club. Tuesday sessions will be aimed at novice golfers and Thursday sessions will run for pupils with regular experience of playing on golf courses. The series of lessons will run for an eight week block, between 30th April to 2nd May and 25th to 27th Jun, 15:45 – 16:45 (excluding half term).
Please see here for full details and email [email protected] if you require any further information.
Do you speak French or Spanish?
The Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Department are looking for confident French or Spanish speakers to volunteer to help Year 10 and 11 students practise their speaking skills during MFL lessons and revision sessions. This would involve working with students on conversation skills, photo description and role play scenarios. If you are interested in volunteering please email for more information: [email protected]. Please note, all volunteers will need to undertake our DBS checks.

Uniform Message
We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents about our piercing and jewellery policy. Whilst monitoring this at school we have found that there are still a number of students who are wearing more than the permitted one stud per ear lobe. In recent weeks we have had a safety issue with students wearing more jewellery than allowed and this has unfortunately led to injury. Whilst sanctions and precautions are being put in place at school we ask for parental support with this to ensure that our students are safe during the school day.
As a compromise this year we have allowed students with new piercings to wear clear retainers or cover them with a plaster whilst at school. This, we felt, gave students to opportunity to allow for healing. We would like to make it clear that as from September 2019 we will not allow students to wear the retainers or plasters as there will have been enough time for the piercings to heal and as such they can be removed when in school.
A link to the full uniform policy can be found on our website here.
