Listening text: Do you ever worry about taking exams? Do you sometimes forget what you have studied? How many times have you studied English words only to forget them the next day? Music may be able to help you . Some researches have shown that if you listen to classical music, especially Mozart, while studying , it will improve your ability to remember. This is called the ‘Mozart effect.” Does it work with all kinds of music? Researchers have tried it with other kinds of music such as Pop and country, but they don’t seem to have the same effect. It seems that the rythms of classical music help develop one’s memory. However, the improved memory only to lasts a short time.

What can you do to improve your intelligence over a long period of time? It seems that learning to play an instrument is helpful, especially for improving maths skills. Scientists think this is because the area of our brain that calculates rhythm is also the same place where we store our maths knowledge. So, if you want to become more intelligent, go to a music class.
