Using a cloth or fabric coated hair tie (never a rubber band) gather the hair in a ponytail at the crown area. Fasten the ponytail securely with your hair tie. Once your ponytail is in place, take a section of cling film and wrap it around the stem of the ponytail securely. Wrapping the cling film around the stem of the ponytail will ensure no Waving Lotion can enter the secured area and created a dent in the hair once the perm is complete. With the Ponytail in place (and the hair still damp from clarifying) you can begin winding the perm. TIP: Creating the ponytail directly on the crown area will create more height at the top of the head. Step Two – Winding Use Wave Rods to achieve this effect. Take a section of hair no more than one inch wide and half an inch deep and comb smooth. If you have very resistant hair (meaning your hair has no bleach on it and is typically difficult to curl), pre-dampen this section with a little Waving Lotion, before combing the section smooth and wrapping a perm paper over the ends. If you have highlighted or bleached hair, only use Pin Up Pre Perm Treatment to wind the hair. Once you have applied the end paper to the hair you can begin winding the section. For best results wind the hair starting at the far end of the rod and create a tube by winding the hair downward along the length of the rod. Winding the hair in a spiral formation will create a more uninform finished curl result. The Cascade Instructions The Cascade is a perfect style effect for anyone who has very straight longer hair but wants wave and movement to the mid-lengths and ends. The key to achieving an excellent result with the Cascade is in the initial sectioning. This particular effect is achieved by perming a pony tail but it’s crucial to remember to protect the stem of the ponytail with cling film to prevent any Waving Lotion forming a dent in the hair. You will need around 20 to 24 Wave Rods to achieve this effect and Pin Up end curl. To achieve the ‘Cascade’ look you will need the following from www.pinup-perm.com:- 1 x Pin Up Clarifying Shampoo 250ml 1 x Pin Up Full Head 3 x Packs of Pin Up Perm Rods Medium (Wave & Volume x 8) 1 x Pin Up Pre Perm Spray 150ml 1 x Tail Comb 1 x Plastic Bowl You will also need:- Wide toothed tangle comb, Cling Film, and Fabric Hair Tie

Step One – The Pony Tail After washing and clarifying your hair, comb it thoroughly to remove tangles. Using a cloth or fabric coated hair tie (never a rubber band) gather the hair in a ponytail at the crown area. Fasten the ponytail securely with your hair tie.

Once your ponytail is in place, take a section of cling fi lm and wrap it around the stem of the ponytail securely. Wrapping the cling fi lm around the stem of the ponytail will ensure no Waving Lotion can enter the secured area and created a dent in the hair once the perm is complete. With the Ponytail in place (and the hair still damp from clarifying) you can begin winding the perm.

TIP: Creating the ponytail directly on the crown area will create more height at the top of the head.

Step Two – WindingUse Wave Rods to achieve this effect. Take a section of hair no more than one inch wide and half an inch deep and comb smooth. If you have very resistant hair (meaning your hair has no bleach on it and is typically diffi cult to curl), pre-dampen this section with a little Waving Lotion, before combing the section smooth and wrapping a perm paper over the ends. The Cascade

Instructions

The Cascade is a perfect style effect for anyone who has very straight longer hair but wants wave and movement to the mid-lengths and ends. The key to achieving an excellent result with the Cascade is in the initial sectioning. This particular effect is achieved by perming a pony tail but it’s crucial to remember to protect the stem of the ponytail with cling fi lm to prevent any Waving Lotion forming a dent in the hair.

You will need around 20 to 24 Wave Rods to achieve this effect and Pin Up end curl.

To achieve the ‘Cascade’ look you will need the following from www.pinup-perm.com:-

1 x Pin Up Clarifying Shampoo 250ml1 x Pin Up Full Head3 x Packs of Pin Up Perm Rods Medium

(Wave & Volume x 8)1 x Pin Up Pre Perm Spray 150ml1 x Tail Comb1 x Plastic Bowl

You will also need:- Wide toothed tangle comb, Cling Film, and Fabric Hair Tie

Once you have wound the first section, you can repeat with the next section of the ponytail (immediately after the first). Follow the same principles as above. Work through the ponytail winding sections of hair. If you wish to have more height at the crown you can locate the centre of the ponytail and wind several rods directly downward toward the stem of the Ponytail. By the finish, your ponytail should be entirely wound with Wave Rods and you can proceed to applying the Waving Lotion.

If you haven’t already been pre-dampening with Waving Lotion, pour a little into a plastic bowl and using the sponge begin gently ‘dabbing’ each rod to cover in the lotion.

Once you have applied Waving Lotion, wrap all the rods in cling film and processing (for your specific hair type) as outlined on in the Perm Guide. With the Cascade technique you only need to apply the cling film to the ponytail and not the entire head.

TIP: If you want increased curl, you can follow this exact same technique but create three ponytails on your head. Set your parting and section your hair and create one ponytail on the left side of your head, one on the right and one at the back. Remember to apply the cling film to the stem and follow the directions as outlined above. This particular technique (of three ponytails) is better for hair above the shoulders where there can be less length in one ponytail.

Step Three – RinsingAfter conducting your test curl and are satisfied the perm has taken, you can remove both the cling film which had been covering the rods in and the cling film around the stem of the ponytail. Rinse your rods fully to remove all traces of Waving Lotion and ensure you direct the water into your hair tie to ensure any lotion which may have dripped into this area is also flushed away. You should rinse for several minutes to removes all traces of Waving Lotion.

Step Four – Resting the HairOnce you have finished rinsing, wrap hair (rods and ponytail) in a towel, spray some Pin Up Pre Perm treatment over the rods and leave for around 30 minutes. This period will ensure any excess water dissipates and enables good neutralisation.

Step Five – NeutralisingAfter 30 minutes you can remove the towel and apply the Neutraliser directly from the applicator. Ensure the foam covers each rod fully, after each rod has been covered in Neutraliser foam leave to develop for 5 minutes.

Step Six – Removing Rods and Hair tieAfter 5 minutes, you can begin removing the rods from the ponytail. Remove them gently and separate end papers from rods, placing rods in the sink (to be washed) and end papers in the bin. Once all rods have been taken out, you can remove the hair tie and let the ponytail down. In some instances the hair can get a little tangled around the hair tie (during rinsing), therefore if you feel any tension as you remove the ponytail rather than attempting to ‘pull’ the hair out, simply cut the tie from the hair. Once all the hair is freed from the ponytail and loose, you will see your wet curl result. Apply the remainder of the neutraliser by creating the foam in the palm of your hand and ‘scrunching’ through the hair. At this stage direct the foam throughout the whole head and pay particular attention to the ends, by scrunching the curls with the foam. Wait a further 5 minutes.

After the development time has passed, you can now rinse the hair for several minutes to remove all the neutraliser.

Step Seven – Finishing After rinsing lightly towel dry and apply a liberal amount of Pin Up Pre Perm treatment to the hair, comb through with a wide toothed tangle comb and for best results leave to dry naturally.
