CFD: Grid Generation

•Two girds were generated using MATLAB (Delaunay Triangulation) and FORTRAN (for Cartesian Grid). Along with the Panel Method code (MATLAB) to solve the potential flow over NACA 0012 airfoil section.

•Second code was written based on Lifting Line theory, in MATLAB, to solve the Potential Flow over entire wing section.

Six Primary Instruments were

modelled in MATLAB. All

instruments were programmed

with the fully functional

keyboard interface, and a

detailed flight dynamics model

running stored in Simulator’s

library.

All instruments were modelled

with ‘on board’ warnings such as

Stall, speed limits and structural

limits, and digital displays for

Mach number, Climb Rate, and

altitude.

Only Heading Indicator was not

modelled

Landing Simulator (C++/OpenGL)

Almost all of the modelling was done on LINUX operating system, using C/C++ and OpenGL Libraries.

Currently I am working to enhance the simulator to develop a detailed Instrument panel for A340, using C, OpenGL, and Adobe Illustrator

Skills Gained: Programming, Linux Operating System, 3D modelling using OpenGL, Animating using OpenGL, Vector Graphics, and Adobe Photoshop

Optimisation: Genetic Algorithms

Optimisation Techniques: Single and Multi VariableEvolutionary Algorithms (Genetic and Particle Swarm)Gradient Methods, Conjugate Gradient and Newton’sMainly for structural optimisation constraint and unconstrained Performed in MATLAB

Simulation Fidelity Assessment

MSc Thesis:

Assessment of fixed wing aircraft simulator fidelity, based on the pilot-vehicle system. Set of data obtained from simulated and flight test landing flare manoeuvre for Jetstream 31 aircraft.

Piloting Control Strategy was developed based on the dynamics of Lead-Lag Network. This was done to distinguish the dynamics associated with the execution of a task from those of the pilot, per se. Analysis was based on Parameter Identification Techniques (In Frequency Domain), Least-Square Identification, Time Histories, and Phase Plane Trajectories of the flare manoeuvre.

System Identification Techniques were used, in conjunction with Handling Qualities Engineering, to quantify and characterize the overall response of the system (aircraft). MIL-1797A, JAR-FSTD 1A, JAR-25 and JAR STD standards were used throughout the project.

Reading: Some of my Best Reads

I have a strong obsession of Reading and Coffee, which have enabled me to setup my personal small library, which includes Fiction, History, Politics, and Military History books. I love Tom Clancy, Simon Scarrow, and Fatima Bhutto. My biographies collection includes Napoleon, Lord Wellington, Admiral Nelson, Mao Tse Tung, and Nelson Mendela.

Photography

I am doing photography since I was 13, and competed in many Competitions and participated in many Exhibitions. I have participated in two Exhibitions run under the Govt. of Pakistan (Ministry of Tourism) and other under World Wild Fund (WWF) Pakistan. I have a keen interest in Architectural Photography, Portraits and Macro Photography My Rig:
