Regan’s Playground Last Wednesday saw the official opening of Regan’s Playground. In a very moving ceremony, our school community was able to remember Regan as we opened the Nature Play area. Classes have been rostered on to use Regan’s Playground at recess and lunch, and all reports have been about how much fun it is playing on it. The playground is a challenge, and children will get bumps, grazes and bruises from using it—all of which will help develop their resilience and self esteem. On behalf of the school community I would like to thank our P&C for their support of this project, the many parents who have assisted in any way, and the many companies and businesses who provided support for this project. In particular I would like to thank our chief organisers and builders—Bee & Ty Jones, Nathan & Carly Malatesta and Vance & Kylie Burton. Our school community owes these people a huge debt of gratitude—Thank you. Regan’s Playground is already the centerpiece of our school and will be a lasting legacy to a young man who lived life to the full. Open Night Our annual Open Night occurs shortly (Wednesday 14th September). Classrooms will be open from 4.30pm to 6pm to enable family members to see all the exciting things happening in classrooms. From 4.30pm until 5.00pm, PARENTS ONLY are invited to try out Regan’s Playground (at your own risk!!). Children are not permitted to play on Regan’s Playground during the Open Night—you get your turn during the school day. The P&C will be running a Sausage Sizzle during the night. From 5.00pm our English Enrichment students will be showcasing their public speaking skills in preparation for the Collie Preston Soap Box Public Speaking competition. Classrooms will close at 6pm, at which time we will invite everyone to come to the Undercover Area and be entertained by the talented students in our Performing Arts program. The evening should conclude around 6.30pm. I hope to see you all on the night. Athletics Carnivals The advent of warmer weather means that Athletics season is upon us! Children are currently preparing for a number of carnivals to be held in Term 4. The relevant dates are: Athletics Carnival (1/2 day only) - Pre Primary—Year 3 Tuesday 18th October Athletics Carnival (full day) - Year 4—Year 6 Friday 21st October Interschool Jumps (Bunbury Primary) Interschool Athletics (Hay Park Athletics Complex) Information about each of these events will be provided in upcoming Newsletters. SCHOOL BANKING

We have had an awesome 30 Banking Sign Ups so far for our school! This also means a great incentive of $5 per sign up for our

school! Yahoo!!

It is important for our children to see the appreciate money and one of the best way is for them to do odd jobs for Mum, Dad, Grandparents and family. Then they can hand their

hard earned $s in to me for banking and tally up their deposit books to see

the total rising.

Regan’s Playground Well, we did it!! Regan’s Playground is now ready for action.

Hugest thanks to our three main volunteers – Ty Jones, Nathan Malatesta and Vance Burton.

Without these three men the playground would never have been built. They can now have their

weekends back!

Many others from our school community helped when the call was put out as well – THANK YOU

to all, whether you fed the volunteers, helped for an hour or a whole day.

Many businesses also made donations, reduced payment costs or assisted with the building of

Regan’s Playground with no payment for their time and effort. Massive thanks to:

MTI Industries WA Civil Galvin Hardware S Jarvis Bricklaying

Brookfield Rail Qube Prime Hanson Construction Materials

GCS Jarvis Constructions Australind Landscaping Supplies SIMCOA Galvin

Plumbing Jahroc Studio Milton

Southern Ports Authority

This project started 2 years ago with students, parents and staff voting for features

they’d like to see at our Nature Play Area. It became an extra special project once

named Regan’s Playground in honour of the super happy, cheeky and fun 6 year old stu-

dent Regan Burton.

I truly hope that the students at Dalyellup PS enjoy the variety of play options Regan’s

Playground gives. I hope to see students’ being challenged, imaginations flourish and

children’s core strength increase.

Once again, IMMENSE THANKS to all who helped through the development of Regan’s

Playground – your time and effort is very much appreciated.

It’s been a huge project and now it’s over to the students . . .

ENGLISH ENRICHMENT POETRY

Written by Gemma

I slump heavily down to the cold concrete floor

I couldn't get up, I couldn't feel tall

Their uniforms and glaring eyes

Make me feel so small

They point at me, finger on the trigger

I shuffle backwards, I feel nothing at all

Through my flesh, my bone and through my heart

The bullets tore

One after another until finally the officer shouts

“No more!”

I close my eyes, its only the law

As I whisper my final goodbyes

I try to retrace all the torture and the lies

Its only revenge and hatred

Until someone dies

Why did it have to come

To this finale demise?

Was it their fault or Was it mine?

Who really committed the crime?

HELPING HEIDI

It is amazing to see the huge support in general

for Heidi to achieve her dream of going on a Bali

holiday! Amazing donations from many sources

have been received, including $500 from

Northern Lights Southwest Electrical, donations

being collected at the School Assembly last

week and donations received here in the office

from families not even at our school but having

seen the report on the GWN news. It is so heart

warming and appreciated.

It’s Showtime

Please make a note of the following dates so you can arrange to

watch the Year 4 Choir, the Year 5&6 Choir and the Band perform

this Term.

On Wednesday the 21st of September, which is the last week of this

11:30 and 1:45. Please invite friends and family, take time off work

and come to enjoy and support the singing, acting and dancing of

the Dalyellup Primary students.

Immediately after the classroom Open night on Wednesday the 14 th

of September (week 9), the Dalyellup Primary Band will be perform-

ing a selection of music, singing and dance for all parents and stu-

dents. Please come and enjoy the skill and dedication of the stu-

dents.

If you have children in Choir and/or Band look out for notes about

costume requirements and encourage them to practice and prepare

thoroughly for their shows.
