Change means that what was before wasn’t perfect. People want things to be better. (Esther Dyson)

Many people want to change the status quo because it is not perfect. You want to change it, too. You see that things need to be changed and you think of a solution which works.

But change can scare a lot of people. You must convince those who are affected by the change to support you. Otherwise they will put all their energy into blockade.

Some people are able to convince others with little effort. Others fail. But how do you convince others to change the status quo for the better?

Many years I searched for a structure which displays all the necessary high level information in a way that others understand it…. :persuasion: was born.

Current Situation

and YOU… who needs to convince to

embrace change

Who is facing this problem?

1000 arguments that speak against ANY changethers do not listen and always have 1000 arguments against any change proposal

Nobody has ever managed to change something hereeveryone who has ever tried to change something here has failed

Status Quo => why change?

There are 4 classic ways people try to motivate for change:

• Your strength is the domain expertise. You prepare yourself by composing as many information as possible. Afterwards you present your bucket full of relevant information and say "... we must do X, Y, Z... We always had issues with .... Now we must change!" Bang! Your head hits the wall.

• Since months you are thinking of a solution for a problem. You have discussed your solution with 1-2 colleagues and got positive feedback. You're sure to do the right thing and tomorrow YOUR MISSION starts.

• You have gathered all information. Yes, you have every detail. So, you are the expert. Albeit you could easily write down another 40 pages you don't want to educate all your colleagues. They can read, or? OK. Start your endless journey

Why change?

83% of your audience are sustainers. They do not like the status quo but don't want to change it

10% of that what your audience hears or reads is

60thousand times faster than text are images processed by the brain of your audience

25% of your proposals will be implemented

Recommended Solution

It is very simple to convince others. You just need to change the structure of your message:• start with the current situation. Explain why your audience

should trust you and your proposal ("Like you I drive to work every day and park my car in the car park.

OK. You know what you are talking about....

• You enlist all issues which are caused by the current approach. Your audience should agree now because they face this issue ("... we all have dirty shoes when we get out of the car...")

Again. Agreement...

• Now. explain the status quo with emotions ("... I park the car. My foot is in the mud. On a lucky day I step on crushed stones")

• Add more emotions ("4 days a week muddy shoes = 50$ spend for cleaning")

Wow! People start to sympathise.

Your audience asks itself if you may have a solution to improve the status quo.

• what do we need to change? ("... tar the car parking!")• what is the positive effect? ("... clean shoes, happy

employees....")

Now: Future:

Du findest Unterstützerwenn Du was veränderst, müssen andere mitmachen. Wenn Du Unterstützer findest, bewegen sich die anderen auch

you get backed by othersif you want to change something, you must be backed by others.

you reach your goalif your goal is to change something you will reach it
