Perth is in the midst of an exciting period of expansion and new developments. The large-scale capital works projects throughout the city and surrounding areas mean Perth is dramatically changing, reflecting the growing global importance of the city.

Located in the Heart of Perth So close to everything…The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) is situated in the heart of the beautiful city of Perth, within easy walking distance of the city’s major hotels, business, restaurant and retail districts and offers a range of transport options.

Situated next to the Central Business District and nestled on the Swan River, PCEC provides delegates an abundant selection of shopping, entertaining and dining opportunities to enhance their conference experience.

Significant investment in infrastructure, buoyed by Western Australia’s robust economy and strong business confidence, is transforming the cityscape and delivering a new vibrancy to Western Australia’s social and cultural landscapes.

This includes Peth City Link, the new 60,000 seat Perth Stadium, and the impressive new Elizabeth Quay (just across from the PCEC) which reconnects the city with the Swan River. See next page.

There are also a number of exciting new hotel developments in the pipeline.

A number of the world’s most respected hotels have a presence in Perth, with more 3 to 6 star new accommodation properties (more than 6000 rooms) planned across the city and environs from 2016 to 2019, including the new Crown Towers, InterContinental, Westin and Hilton hotels and a Ritz-Carlton planned for Elizabeth Quay. So the perfect accommodation to suit your delegates’ location and budget will be within walking distance of the PCEC.

Getting to PCEC Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) is located in the heart of Perth city, adjacent to the Swan River. Its location provides quick and easy access to and from the PCEC by car, train, bus, taxi and on foot.

The easy way in...If you’re not driving, there are many transport options that bring you to the door of the PCEC - or, at least, a short stroll away.

Walking Feel like some fresh air and the opportunity to enjoy Perth’s fabulous weather? The PCEC is located next to the Swan River and its many walking paths. From Perth’s Central Business District, the PCEC is between a 5-minute and 15-minute walk, depending on your starting point. From West Perth, just walk down King’s Park Road and onto St Georges Terrace before heading down to the PCEC. From South Perth, the PCEC is a 20-minute stroll over the Narrows Bridge.

Cycling Perth’s cycle paths are superb and intersect the city area from all directions.

Bus There are 13 bus service areas within the Perth region, with four major bus operators. Perth’s central bus station, known as the BusPort, is located adjacent to the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and bus services to all suburbs of Perth are frequent. There is also a free Central Area Transit (CAT) bus service that runs through the City of Perth. For bus timetables and further information, see www.transperth.wa.gov.au.

Parking The City of Perth owns and operates the Convention Centre Car Park at the PCEC through its business unit City of Perth Parking (CPP). The car park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week except for maintenance and servicing. Fully-trained customer service staff are in attendance.

The full parking fees can be viewed at www.cityofperthparking.com.au/convention-centre

For further information and customer inquiries, phone 1300 889 613 or email [email protected].

Due to its popularity, the Convention Centre Car Park tends to fill up quickly mid-week. However, ample alternative parking is also available within a short walk of the PCEC.

Private vehicles and coaches There are a number of private car and coach companies operating with both small and large vehicles in the city and surrounds. These services are perfect for transfer to and from the airport, transfer to events or for regional tours, and they are an efficient and cost effective means for delegates to travel around Perth.

Ferry The Transperth ferry arrival point is located at the new Elizabeth Quay Jetty inside the inlet. The jetty is only a five-minute walk from the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. For ferry timetables and further information, see www.transperth.wa.gov.au.

Train Perth’s train system is operated by Westrail. The Elizabeth Quay train station is right next to the PCEC with trains running regularly. For train timetables and further information, see www.transperth.wa.gov.au

TaxiPerth’s taxi drivers are well known as being friendly and helpful. There are taxi ranks near the PCEC and taxis can also be hailed from the street. Taxis can drop off guests in a “drop-off zone” in the PCEC’s arrival plaza.

Elizabeth Quay Across from the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) lies Elizabeth Quay, a new world-class waterfront development featuring a mixture of community and corporate spaces, along with iconic landmarks and exciting new hospitality offerings.

Featuring 1.6 kilometres of riverside promenades and boardwalks, Elizabeth Quay offers new experiences for both visitors and locals and will be a major venue for the Perth International Arts Festival.

Children will be delighted with the new playground and water park, while sophisticated visitors will appreciate the new retail and restaurant offerings, as well as the soon to come luxurious hotel and short-stay accommodation options.

With the potential to host community events, corporate functions, concerts, markets, product launches and more, Elizabeth Quay truly offers something for everyone and is the perfect complement to delegate activities at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

PCEC was the crowning glory in Perth’s successful bid to host the 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which saw world leaders, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, discuss the most important global issues of the day.

Shortly after CHOGM, the newly announced Perth waterfront project was named Elizabeth Quay in honour of Queen Elizabeth II and the enormous response from the local public to the Big Aussie Barbeque farewelling the monarch on her departure from CHOGM. Significantly, the barbeque was held on the same land just prior to development of Elizabeth Quay commencing.

The PCEC is Wireless The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) were proudly named a joint runner up of the 2016 INCON Digital Infrastructure Award. The award “recognises meeting venues that work innovatively to enable top class connected meetings”.

In 2016 PCEC bolstered its capabilities with a significant upgrade to its information technology and Wi-Fi infrastructure. These recent digital upgrades were the result of listening to clients and anticipating their needs, both now and into the future.

The PCEC offers clients access to state-of-the-art technology and communication facilities for events of every size - ensuring fast, reliable and secure Internet access for every attendee..

Connecting with others is important. PCEC utilises state-of-the-art Cisco Meraki wireless (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac) capable access points, offering a highly available, reliable wireless network known for its ability to meet the demands of a large user base. You and your delegates can enjoy fast and secure venue-wide coverage.

The network provides 99.98% uptime with support for up to 3,000 concurrent nodes, and a highly available network (N+1 redundancy) coupled with end to end uninterrupted power supplies. This ensures significant uptime during those critical moments. Support for streaming video and voice means you can connect in real-time with audiences worldwide. After the event, we can supply application forensics and user analytics reports, offering insights into delegates’ movements and usage profiles.

Do you require a dedicated wireless LAN for your conference? PCEC’s versatile high-calibre network will give you and your delegates excellent coverage anywhere in and around the venue.

For further information, please request to see PCEC’s Technical Brief Sheet.

The PCEC recognises that business has changed and it is essential for delegates to remain contactable throughout the day – even when they are attending a conference. The days of simply being out of the office and unavailable are long gone.

All conference delegates, event attendees and the general public can now stay connected to the web and their emails at the PCEC via the free wireless internet service which is available throughout the venue. This is an excellent ‘value add’ that organisers can offer to attendees of their events. Please note this service is limited to 512Kb per user with 60 minutes of access time per login (upon agreeing to the terms and conditions). Once this 60 minute session has expired patrons will be redirected back to the portal page where they are welcome to again access the free wireless internet service.

Should longer (uninterrupted) connections or faster speeds be desired, patrons can purchase these via the wireless internet credit card portal. Event organisers, sponsors and/or exhibitors may wish to consider pre-purchasing a group log in using a pre-assigned username and password for delegates to access.

It is highly recommended that event organisers, exhibitors and presenters who require internet connections organise either a faster wireless or a wired connection via their PCEC Event Manager or Exhibitor Services.

The PCEC App AVPartners has launched an events app at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC).

The app, PCEC, integrates social media tools, gamification, surveys and live polls with up- to-date event information to ensure PCEC events are accessible and relevant for attendees online, as well as offline.

Delegates can post updates, tag their location, like and comment on posts and send private messages all from within the app. They can also access up-to-date event documentation, such as programs and flyers, speaker, attendee and exhibitor information.

Using PCEC, event organisers can update event information and send targeted push notifications to attendees in real-time.

Designed for all smart phones, the app also facilitates reporting on active users and interactions within the app, thanks to a built-in analytics function.

Leveraging the latest in event technology, PCEC is provided through a partnership between AVPartners and American mobile event app developer DoubleDutch.

EarthCheck is trusted by more than 1000 organisations in over 60 countries and provides a means to independently calculate Scopes One, Two and Three emissions and improve operational efficiencies. Importantly EarthCheck reports are verified by an international network of independent auditors.

EarthCheck has a set of stringent benchmarks which organisations are measured before receiving accreditation. The accreditation looks at a range of areas including sustainability policies, water and energy consumption, recycling and chemical usage.

The PCEC surpassed expectation in many of the selection criteria and is working on continual improvement in all areas of environmental conservation at the centre.

PCEC is proud to receive the EarthCheck endorsement; its impact on the environment is something we must all be aware of, both as an organisation and individuals.

PCEC supports the idea that every contribution to the wellbeing of the environment is valuable – no matter what size. It is all about our ongoing commitment to minimise impact and positive change.
