Day 1 – Friday, April 24 – International Arrival in LimaArrive at Lima International Airport where we will meet an assistant and private group transfer to the hotel located in the residential district of Miraflores, a few blocks away from the Pacific Ocean.

*Broad Escapes will have a group flight from Toronto (preference Air Canada direct flights). The group transfer will be based on the recommended group flight arrival time. Private transfers (at an additional cost) can be arranged for those arriving at a different date/time. Flights from all gateways can be arranged through Broad Escapes.

Overnight in Lima – Casa Standard Centro, or similar – 2 nights

Day 2 – Saturday, April 25 – Lima City Sightseeing B/DBegin the morning with sightseeing starting with the residential districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. Visit its most famous plazas such as Plaza San Martin & Plaza Mayor, where Lima was founded by Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro in 1525. Enjoy a guided tour of Santo Domingo Convent where the Tomb of Santa Rosa de Lima, patron woman saint of Peru, is exposed.

Afternoon at leisure followed by dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 3 – Sunday, April 26 – Lima – Puerto Maldonado B/L/DTransfer to the airport for our flight to Puerto Maldonado where we will be welcomed by our local guides. Board a motorized canoe which will be the mode of transportation along the Madre de Dios River to our comfortable jungle lodge. After lunch with organic ingredients, take a guided walk through the trails to discover the biodiversity of the rain-forest. At dusk, navigate by outboard motorized canoe, for a Twilight River excursion to learn about the river’s ecosystem, Amazonian creeks and the nocturnal animals’ behavior.

Overnight – Ikaterra Hacienda Concepcion, or similar – 2 nights

Day 4 – Monday, April 27 – Puerto Maldonado B/L/DToday we will trek through terra firma into the Tambopata National Reserve towards Lake Sandoval. Navigate by dugout canoe across a mirror-like oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter, blue and yellow macaw, red howler monkey, black caiman and one of the world’s biggest fresh water scaled fish, the paiche. In the afternoon enjoy the breathtaking views of the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway and Anaconda Walk and get a chance to watch white-throated toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth on the hanging bridges connected to treetops. This evening participate in a Rainforest by Night excursion for a glimpse of the intriguing nocturnal animals.

Day 5 – Tuesday, April 28 – Puerto Maldonado – Cusco B/DToday we will leave the jungle to board a flight to Cusco. The afternoon will be at a slow pace to allow for acclimatization (3,400m above sea level). There’ll be time to relax upon arrival before strolling the plazas, admiring the cobblestone streets and brightly coloured markets of this historic town.

Overnight in Cusco – Casa Andina Standard Catedral, or similar – 2 nights

Day 6 – Wednesday, April 29 – Cusco Inca Sites BToday’s excursion will have you learning about the Inca Empire in the Inca capital of Cusco and surrounding areas. Enjoy a city tour and continue on to sites such as Sacsayhuaman, Tambo Machay, Temple Coricancha and other notable Inca ruins. Cusco is the oldest continually inhabited city on the continent and it’s full of history, culture, art, museums, shopping and more. Enjoy the afternoon and evening to explore in this charming city at your leisure.

Day 7 – Thursday, April 30 – Cusco – Chinchero – Maras – Moray – Sacred Valley of the Incas B/L/DTravel by bus to the agriculturally rich and scenic Sacred Valley. Stop in the town of Chinchero for a spectacular view of the Urubamba mountain range, followed by a visit to the Andean village where every day there is a picturesque artisan market. Visit a women’s weavers’ cooperative for a wonderful introduction of the art of Andean textiles. Proceed to Mara for a gastronomic experience to prepare Pachamanca, a traditional dish from the Andes. Continue to the archaeological site of the Moray ruins with stunning terraces before checking into our hotel.

Overnight in Sacred Valley of the Incas – Casona Yucay, or similar – 1 night

Day 8 – Friday, May 1 – Sacred Valley of the Incas: Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes B/DThis morning we visit the fortress of Ollantaytambo, the almost intact original Incan town and hub to the Inca Trail. Towering over the town are the ruins, once the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti during the Inca Empire. Relax in the afternoon on the scenic, vistadome train travelling along the Urubamaba River towards the Lost City of the Incas.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes – El Mapi By Inkaterra, or similar – 2 nights

Day 9 – Saturday, May 2 – Aguas Calientes: Machu Piccchu B/DRise and shine bright and early as the best time to see the Lost City of the Incas is in the early morning light. We’ll transfer by a local shuttle bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. Here we’ll meet a local guide to learn about the history of Machu Picchu at a leisurely pace. Gain local insight into the Inti Mach’ay cave, Inti Watana, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Water, the Temple of the Condor, and the Room of the Three Windows. Take time to sit and feel the energy of this 15th century site, now both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World (in a worldwide Internet poll). Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore the wonders of this magical site. Return to Aguas Calientes by bus. Regroup for dinner in the evening.

Day 10 – Sunday, May 3 – Aguas Calientes – Pisac – Cusco B/LBoard the Expedition train to Ollantaytambo and transfer to the Seminario Workshop where we will meet a local artist who has preserved the important tradition of pottery in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will visit the colonial market village of Pisac, followed by a walk through the ruins of the ancient settlement. Continue to Cusco for an evening at leisure.

Overnight in Cusco – Casa Andina Standard Catedral, or similar – 1 night accommodation

Day 11 – Monday, May 4 – Cusco – Andahuaylillas –Raqchi – La Raya – Puno B/L/D The journey continues through spectacular countryside as we make our way on a full day of travel from Cusco to Puno through the scenic High Altiplano. Arrive in Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca and settle in for the evening with dinner at our lakeside hotel.

Day 12 – Tuesday, May 5 - Puno – Uros & Taquile Islands B/L/DIn the morning, board a comfortable 35-foot, fully equipped speed boat to explore Lake Titicaca. Often referred to as the highest navigable

lake in the world (3,812m above sea level), here we’ll stop at various islands to enjoy the lake’s scenic splendor and to meet the friendly people of these communities. Travel to Taquile Island to visit the community and check out the spectacular views. Do some shopping at the local weaving cooperatives and learn about the Tawuilenos, known for their fine handwoven textiles and clothing. Visit the Uros tribe and learn about the construction of their floating reed islands. Return to Puno by boat for dinner and overnight.

Day 13 – Wednesday, May 6 - Puno – Lima B/DAs the journey comes to an end we will transfer to the airport for our domestic flight to Lima. As most international flights depart late evening (often after midnight) there will be day rooms available at the hotel in Lima. This evening we’ll celebrate the memories of the wonderful trip with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant before a group transfer to the airport.

*Broad Escapes will offer a designated group flight from Lima to Toronto. The group transfer will be based on the group flight departure time. Private trans-fers can be arranged (at an additional cost) for those departing at a different date/time. Flights from all gateways can be arranged through Broad Escapes.

Please note that a moderate level of fitness is required to enjoy the various activities of this tour. Trip activities include hiking and walking, sometimes on uneven ground and at elevations of a maximum of 3800m above sea level. As a courtesy to fellow travellers all Broad Escapes tours are considered non-smoking in that smoking will not be permitted during group activities or on board the bus.

Travel times are approximate and based on averages. Opening/Closing times of some sites in the itinerary are subject to change and may be closed on government holidays.

**While it is our intention to adhere to the itinerary described above, there is a certain amount of flexibility built into the tour. Due to traffic or other circumstances beyond our control, it may be necessary or desirable to make alterations. Broad Escapes reserve the right to change the itinerary when deemed necessary.**

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Reservations: To reserve space on this tour, contact your Ellison Travel & Tours Travel Advisor.

Deposits & Payments: A deposit is due at the time of booking. The amount of the deposit varies according to the tour booked. Final payment depending on the tour is due 60 to 120 days prior to departure. Both deposits and final payments are non-refundable at time of payment unless covered by insurance.

Forms of Payment: Ellison Travel & Tours will accept payment in the form of cheque, Visa or Mastercard. Cheques must be made payable to Ellison Travel & Tours. If the credit card sale is declined, the customer will be informed immediately, and payment will be considered not received. Verbal authorization of the use of your credit card commits you to your reservation whether or not you have signed a credit card draft. Refunds will be processed in the form they were received.

Goods & Services Tax: The Canadian Government’s G.S.T. and/or H.S.T. may apply to the cost of your tour. Your vacation advisor will advise of the additional G.S.T./H.S.T. charges, if any, that apply to the cost of your tour. Ellison Travel & Tours reserves the right to pass any Government changes to the tax structure on to the consumer.

Price Guarantee: Once the deposit is paid, the tour cost is guaranteed. Prices are however subject to change to cover any unexpected costs over which Ellison Travel & Tours has no control, such as fuel surcharges, government taxes and country visas. In the event of a surcharge tour members and/or vacation consultants will be advised of any surcharge on their tour. If a rate increase of more than 7% is necessary, clients may cancel with no penalties. No surcharges will be added within 30 days prior to departure.

Departure Points and Times: Motorcoach Transportation is included in the tour price. Departures are from points indicated on your itinerary and are subject to change as required.

Insurance: Ellison Travel & Tours strongly recommends the purchase of Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance, and Comprehensive Assistance, Health Coverage, Individual Accident Coverage, and Baggage and Personal Effects Insurance. See your agent for details.

Proof of Citizenship: Canadian Citizens are asked to carry a passport for tours to the United States. For international travel a valid passport is required. Citizens of other countries or landed immigrants should check with their travel agent for requirements for travel outside Canada. Passengers must have valid passports for travel abroad and visas for some countries. Note: Passports may be required to be valid for a period of time beyond your return date. Ellison Travel & Tours does not accept responsibility for passengers who do not meet correct visa and passport requirements.

Currency: All prices are shown in Canadian Dollars.

Permission to Use Digital Images: Ellison Travel & Tours reserves the right to use all photographs, video or other digital transmissions for promotional material. These include those provided to us by the group leader or other members of the group participating in one of our tours.

Baggage: Passengers travelling by air are allowed one checked bag per passenger. First checked bag fees may apply (see applicable airline baggage terms). Luggage fees introduced or altered by the airline prior to travel is the passengers’ responsibility. Maximum baggage allowance on motorcoach tours is one large suitcase per person. All hand luggage must be carried personally aboard the motorcoach. Although the Tour Manager and Coach Driver supervise the transfer of luggage to and from the motorcoach and every effort is made to handle luggage as carefully as possible, Ellison Travel cannot assume liability for loss, theft, damage due to breakage, fire, water.

Accommodation: All hotels listed in itineraries have been confirmed at the time of printing, but are subject to change. On most tours, TWIN refers to two persons sharing one room with two beds; however, in some areas, only one double bed may be available, so please specify at time of booking if you wish two separate beds. TRIPLE or QUAD usually refers to three or four persons sharing one room with two double beds, all with private bath. Please keep in mind that in some areas local customs may mean that there is a change in the accommodation.

Items not included: Items of personal nature such as laundry, telephone charges and drinks with meals other than noted in the tour Inclusions.

Responsibility: Ellison Travel & Tours acts solely as organizer of the tours outlined in this brochure and is responsible for making all reservations and charting the routes as outlined but it is expressly understood and agreed between the tour organizer and the passengers that Ellison Travel & Tours or its agents shall not be held responsible for:a) non-performance on the part of any hotel or other accommodation for any act or omission that cannot be directly attributed to the neglect of the tour organizer; b) any delays, misconnections, loss, damage or injury to persons or property or for mechanical defects or failure, however caused or for any substitution of hotels or carrier equipment beyond the control of the tour operator, or for any additional expenses occasioned thereby; c) any inconvenience, loss of enjoyment, upset, disappointment, distress or frustration whether physical or mental however caused, except where caused directly by the tour operator; d) any additional costs incurred or any ancillary loss sustained as a result of cancellations or delays of tours caused by inclement weather conditions, acts of God, or any other event, which result in one or more persons being unable to continue or complete the tour through no direct fault of the tour organizer. The tour organizer reserves the right to make any changes before or during the tour for the comfort and enjoyment of the passengers and it is agreed and understood that any increase in costs occasioned by such change shall be paid by the passengers or any decrease in costs occasioned by the change shall be refunded to the passenger.

All tour itineraries are subject to change or cancellation without prior notice. Tour managers are subject to substitution where deemed necessary.

Ellison Travel & Tours shall have no responsibilities beyond their refund of all monies paid by the passenger which is deemed to constitute full settlement. The tour organizer reserves the right to decline any person as a member of the tour at any time before or during the tour should such person’s presence be considered detrimental to the interest, comfort and enjoyment of the other tour members. Persons leaving the tour during operation will not receive a refund of unused services.

Ellison Travel & Tours, its agents and all passengers agree that conditions set out herein are part of the terms between the passenger and the tour organizer. Acceptance of the ticket for the tour or any deposit given to the tour organizer represents acceptance by the passenger of all the aforementioned conditions.
