The Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) proudly presents the 11th Annual Hot Dogs and Cool Cats Pet Photo Contest!

The photo with the most votes will be the cover pet for our 2016 Calendar. With 14 featured pets of the month, 70 pets of the week, and 3 Photographers’ Choice Awards, that’s 88 chances to get YOUR PET in the calendar!

Of course, the real winners will be the shelter animals in our care. GHHS, a no-kill shelter, finds homes for hundreds of pets annually and is supported entirely by public donations. Contest donations allow GHHS to provide a safe haven for homeless animals.

• You can enter online at calendarcontest.org, in person at Parkway Place Mall, or by mail.

• Voting begins online on July 20th, and in person at Parkway Place on July 25th.

• Each vote costs one dollar. There is no limit to the number of votes a person can cast.

• Online voting ends at 5 pm on Sunday, August 9th.

• The grand finale will feature special overtime voting, door prizes, and a fashion show. Join us on August 9th at 6 pm at the Parkway Place Mall!

Contest Rules & Regulations• People are not allowed in your photo, only pets.• Your photo may contain more than one pet.

• We cannot accept Polaroid or poor quality photos, or photos with extensive photoshop, noticeable text, or questionable content.

• Your pet does NOT have to be adopted from GHHS to be eligible to enter this contest.

• You may enter as many photos as you like. Each photo requires a separate entry form and fee.

• Photos should be high resolution (3650 pixels x 2740 pixels and landscape orientation is preferred). Generally, photos taken with mobile phones are not high-enough quality to be featured as monthly photos.

• Entries can be submitted online starting July 20 12:01am, and ending August 9 at 5:00pm CDT.

• Entries can be submitted in person at Parkway Place Mall, or by mail, and must be received by 5:00 pm CDT on August 9, 2015.

• Once entered, photos become the property of GHHS to be used for print and marketing purposes.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER: By entering this contest you grant GHHS the use of your photograph or copies thereof for any and all purposes. GHHS reserves the right to refuse any photos submitted. Professional photos must include signed permission from the photographer to be printed. Votes are per photo and cannot be combined or transferred. Photos will not be returned but may be picked up at the shelter after the contest. Placement of photos in the calendar is at the discretion of the graphic designer. GHHS reserves the right to re-shoot calendar cover photo. No text, people, or questionable content are allowed on photos.

Two Stellar Senior Adoptions!Hi, my name is Toby and I am an 11-year-old terrier mix. My previous owner

passed away, so I was surrendered at Huntsville Animal Services, who asked GHHS to take me. I am so happy that they did!

The GHHS staff realized that I don’t see or hear very well, and they helped me to learn my new surroundings so that I didn’t feel so frightened.

After two months at GHHS I was thrilled to be adopted by my new mom, Donna, who has other pets and a heart for rescuing senior animals. Now, not only do I have a person who truly loves and cares for me, but I have new friends, a great yard, and a warm bed! I wish all dogs were this lucky!

Hey, I’m Buddy. I’m an older guy, and I’ve lived a pretty rough life. I was an outside cat, but I mellowed into a lap cat (although I still tell stories about my mousin’ days).

I wasn’t sure about the other cats in the GHHS cat room, but there was always food, and I claimed the perfect sunny spot. My arthritis acted up, so the GHHS staff put me on some meds that made it easier to move around. But there weren’t too many folks looking for an old, creaky cat like me.

I spent 16 months at GHHS, and while they were good months, I always wanted a home. Fortunately, I found one! This real nice couple wanted an older, quieter cat to share their golden years. Now I’m living it up at their home, and I get to choose whatever sunny napping spot I want!
