The Importance of Adopting a Rescue DogThe animal community is a very tight-knit one filled with passionate people working in the best interests of pets. For rescue organizations, this passion reaches a new level.

Rescue groups take unwanted, abandoned, abused, or stray pets and finds suitable homes for them. Many rescue groups are created and run by volunteers who care for animals in their homes. Foster families help to train, play, handle medical issues and also help to solve behavior problems until the animal can find their forever home.

Springbrook Animal Care Center is proud to partner with many hardworking rescue organizations. Most rescue pets are perfectly healthy and happy, just in need of a home! Adopting a pet is also a great bargain. We provide necessary vaccines and perform spay or neuters before the pet is placed in a home, all included in the cost of adoption.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, 2.7 million adoptable cats and dogs are still euthanized in the U.S. due to the large amount of pets coming into the shelter and too few people to adopt. By adopting a pet from a rescue, you can save an animal and open up a spot in a shelter for an animal who may need it.

How you can help Grassroots are always looking for new foster homes, the lifeblood of their organization. To become a part of a cat’s journey to a forever home by fostering, please e-mail [email protected].

There are also volunteer opportunities, ranging from event planning, transportation, help with spay/neuter clinics, database management, social media initiatives, and more.

Grassroots Animal Rescue

Grassroots Animal Rescue is a small group of dedicated animal lovers committed to providing high-quality care to rescued cats. Their focus is on educating the public and potential adopters on all aspects of cat care, including wellness, nutrition, and cat behavior. They offer continued support to their alumni, long after they have been adopted.

They are 100% foster based, which means cats are kept in a home environment at all times, cared for, and more importantly socialized to make the transition to their forever homes as seamless as possible. Comprehensive medical care is provided to all cats prior to their adoption, ranging from veterinary visits, viral testing, parasites screening, vaccinations, deworming, microchips as well as spay/neuter.

Since opening in June 2014, they have rescued close to 100 cats, most of which have been happily adopted out.

How to Adopt To adopt a Grassroots cat, visit their website, www.grassrootsanimalrescue.org. Cats are also cross-listed on Petfinder.com. Check their events schedule regularly for the list of adoption events held throughout each month. There is a 5 steps process for their adoptions guaranteeing the best match possible between pet and pet parent:

Application / Meet and Greet / References check / Home check / Adoption.

On the Grassroots Animal Rescue website, you can make a donation, and also find a wish list of items needed. As you can imagine, expenses can be quite high, and at this point no governmental funding is available.

How Can You Save on the Cost of

Veterinary Care?

To enroll your pet or for more information, please speak with a Springbrook Animal Care Center associate or call (630) 428-0500.

Enrolling in a Preventative Care Plan can reduce your long-term pet healthcare costs. How? Preventative care does just what its name

suggests—it can prevent diseases that can put your pet’s life in jeopardy and be costly to treat. Regular exams also often catch budding health issues that can become bigger problems if left untreated, saving you

hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars as a result and possibly even saving the life of your pet.
