PETER WITT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION In 1960 the Norma Witt Jackson Charitable Foundation established a scholarship fund known as the Peter Witt Scholarship Fund in honor of the late Peter Witt of Cleveland who was vitally interested in the welfare, programs, and education of the working person, in social betterment, and in the political life of the City of Cleveland. Income from the fund provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving students of The College of Arts and Sciences whose interests are in social work, city planning or community involvement. Students who will be juniors or seniors in the next academic year are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Preference will be given to students living in the Cleveland area. The amount of the scholarship varies, but depending on need and others factors it may be for as much as $5,000. Applications will be considered by the Peter Witt Scholarship Committee, and the awards will be announced at the Honors Assembly at the end of the spring semester. In 1960 the Norma Witt Jackson Charitable Foundation established a scholarship fund known as the Peter Witt Scholarship Fund in honor of the late Peter Witt of Cleveland who was vitally interested in the welfare, programs, and education of the working person, in social betterment, and in the political life of the City of Cleveland. II. RESUMEEach candidate must submit a resume listing his/her academic accomplishments (e.g., honors, awards,presentations, publications), and campus/community activities and service.

III. ESSAYEach candidate must submit an essay of no more than two pages describing his/her service activities, andwhen, why and how he/she became involved in service to the greater Cleveland community. Of particularinterest to the scholarship selection committee is evidence that the candidate’s community service, educationalefforts, and/or political participation made a positive contribution to the lives of others in the Clevelandcommunity.

IV. LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

The applicant is responsible for requesting that two letters of recommendation be sent by March 1, 2020 to [email protected], ATTN: Dean McCarthy. One letter must be from a Case Western Reserve faculty member, and one letter must be from a person who has supervised the applicant in one or more of the community service, educational, and/or political activities addressed in the applicant’s essay.
