Edwards was hostess to the West Durham Blossom Garden Club at the home of Mrs. Addye Coley on Cornell Street recently. The yarden gate was opened by Gardener Gertrude Gibson, who included in her opening a very beautiful prayer and poem. During the business session, committee reports were made; discussions on the annual Christmas party to be held on Dec. 10 were heard and pack- ages of food were collected to be given to a needy family of the community. Gardeners Na- omi Parker, Daisy Gunn and Margaret Fuller gave very in- teresting demonstrations I n making Christmas arrange- ments At the close of the meet- ing. Gardener Edwards assisted by Mrs Coley served a deli- cious dinner to the following members: Mesdames Margaret Allen, Margaret Fuller. Naomi Parker. Beatrice Spencer. Geor- gia Taylor, Mary Horton, Anna Duke. Maggie Siler, Mary Love, Daisy Gunn, Mary Allison, Alease Bynum. Ruth and Mary Louise Stephens. Mr*. Irene Jones was guest. MAE WHITE The Fezz Club of the Elks held its regular meeting for the month of November at the home of Mrs. Mae White on Umstead Street. A short business session was held. A committee was formed to support a needy family for Thanksgiving. The Committee dnated a basket of food to a mother of six children which contained a large turkey and everythiug to complete a Thanksgiving dinner. After the business ression the members were served a din- ner. Members present were: Mesdames Minnie Pcrvis, Hat- tie Singleton, Willie M. Harris, Jessie Nunn, Elisabeth Bur- rough, Ida Roberson, Olivia Davis. Clara Dunbar and Addle Walton. less for the evening. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Selena MilW. _? ? ? WHITE ROCK JUNIOR MISSIONARY CIRCLE HOLDS MEETING Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jones of New York and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Clarke of Philadelphia were the house guests of Mrs. Florence Jones on Powe Street, during the Thanksgiving holi- days. Mrs. Jones is the mother of Mrs. Clarke and Charles. ? ? ? The Junior Missionary Circle of White Rock Baptist Church met at the home of Mrs. A. T. Torrence, Fayetteville Street, who is the supervisor of the circle recently. The following members at- tended: Margaret Barnes, Car- men Ellison, Denise Ratliff, Michatel Ratliff, Jethro Thomp- son, Elsworth Tate. Bruce Hill. Eric Harris, Manley Michaux, Robert Page, Annette Page, Ronya McCrae, Pare pa McOae, Ranea Page, Vivian Trice, De- borah McCrae, Roselyn Trice and Thurman Clark. The meeting was opened by the president, Parepa McCrae. ?'Wonderful Words of Life' was the opening song, followed by a prayer by Jethro Thompson. The scripture was by Bruce Hill followed by Mrs. Torrence in prayer. The lesson title was "The Words of Christ. 1 ' Marga- ret Barnes read the Christmas Story. Luke 2:8-14. All persons interested were asked to attend on the second Sunday of December, tho an- nual missionary meeting. A grapefruit cutting was de- cided upon for the Heart Fund Drive. The closing hymn was "Lord Speak to Me." Then the prayer was said. Mrs. Torrence then served a dinner to the group. Miss Margaret Barnes report- ed the news.
