Larry will discuss focusing your safety efforts on these accident types and discuss managing the cost of injuries that do occur. Learn how following this approach can help control WC expenses for your company and the association’s dividend.   “DOT Security” Meeting Room 3 Jim Fox – MN Department of Transportation In response to the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks, US DOT required Shipper and Transporters of certain types/quantities of hazardous materials (HM) to develop and implement transportation security plans. Those requirements went into effect September 25, 2003. This session will be a review of those requirements including: Who needs a security plan, elements of a security plan and, employee training requirements (both security awareness and in-depth security.) Also discussed will be the Transportation Security Administration’s requirements for background checks for drivers with an HM endorsement on their CDL.   “EMV Requirements for Credit Card Processing” Meeting Room 4 Chris Francis – Vice President Market Development for World Pay Chip cards ARE finally coming to the United States. However, there is a lot of confusion regarding exactly what a retailer must do to accept them – and by when. This workshop will present the actual status and requirements for the EMV migration – and provide some of the questions that you, as a retailer, should start asking of your card processing partners to make sure you are ready in the time frame that is right for you. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 2015 SAINT PAUL RIVERCENTRE 9:30am “To Tax or Not to Tax (Sales tax in C-Stores)” Meeting Room 3 Dan Severson and Theresa Luttrell – MN Department of Revenue – Sales Tax Dan and Theresa from Minnesota Department of Revenue will go over: How sales and use tax laws apply to convenience stores Record keeping and the audit process How to communicate with the Department of Revenue and where to find specific information on their website.   “Keeping up with Employment Practices” Meeting Room 4 Tracy Grundman and John Stiffin – MN Department of Labor and Industry The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry’s presentation will highlight changes to the Minnesota minimum wages and the Women’s Economic Security Act. Also included will be updates on other changes in other laws enforced by the Department.
