Spirit Stick Mania Hits Pine Forest!Spirit Stick Mania Hits Pine Forest!Spirit Stick Mania Hits Pine Forest!Spirit Stick Mania Hits Pine Forest!

Have you heard about our spirit sticks? Are you wondering what is the spirit stick craze? Spirit Sticks are Pine Forest’s new school wide positive incentive program for all students. Students can earn Spirit Sticks for all kinds of things, for example:

• attending and participating in school functions,

i.e. Recycling Program, Spirit Nights, Fun Runs,

etc.

• helping to beautify the campus

• participating in clubs and organizations

• attending school on time and perfect attendance

• honor roll and so much more!

Spirit Sticks are in addition to classroom incentives and Panther Perks. This is just another exciting and positive way for students to be recognized for being responsible, respectful, safe, and learners at PFE! All students received a Panther Spirit ring at the beginning of the year for participating in the Grade Level Panther Chats (School Expectation Assembly). Spirit Rings should be displayed on the student’s back pack to display their spirit sticks! Start earning your spirit sticks today!

Important Attendance Information Important Attendance Information Important Attendance Information Important Attendance Information –––– How you How you How you How you

Students not in the building at 10:00 a.m are marked absent. Regular attendance is critical to learning in the classroom. When your son/daughter is absent from school, please note the following important reminders:

If a student must miss school for a legitimate and excusable reason, as the Parent/Student Handbook states, the student’s parent/guardian must submit an excuse in writing that states the reason for each absence and is signed by the parent/guardian or healthcare professional. The excuse should be submitted to the school immediately upon the student's return but will be accepted no later than 48 hours from the date of the absence.

Important Ways You Can Help!

1. Try to schedule doctor appointments after school or during release times.

2. If your son/daughter does have a routine doctor appointment during the school day, plan for them to attend school before or after the appointment. When your son/daughter attends school the day of the appointment and returns with a note from the doctor, the state will consider him/her present for attendance purposes for that day.

3. If your son/daughter is required to attend court, please make sure he/she turns in documentation from the court stating that they were there. The state will consider him/her present for attendance purposes for that day.

4. Make sure we have your correct email address on our records. We have an automated system that picks up any unexcused absences and sends out an email alerting you of the unexcused absence.

5. You can keep track of your son/daughter's attendance and grades by signing in to HAC, Home Access Center. If you do not have your login information, contact your child’s school for the necessary information.

You can find more information concerning Attendance Regulations and Policies in the Parent/Student Handbook on pages 11-17, which can be found at: http://www.humbleisd.net/Page/43.

Badabaday!!!Badabaday!!!Badabaday!!!Badabaday!!! Dear PFE Parents, Thanks to our generous PTA, A DAY OF DRUMMING will be coming to PFE on Monday, October 15th during all specials classes--and Kindergarten too! Mr. David Cox, with Rhythm Path, will join our specials classes for the day to make beautiful sounds using drums! Each student will be provided with a drum by Mr. Cox to borrow and participate in a drum circle! Please reinforce the expectations below. Students should wear pants/shorts only or dresses with leggings (the drum will sit between their legs). Absolutely no plastic/metal hand jewelry such as rings, watches, and/or bracelets can be worn while playing the drum! Please have your child leave these items at home. Mr. Cox will do a “hand-check” before the students are allowed to enter the drum circle.

This wonderful DAY OF DRUMMING will take place in the cafeteria so students will report to their homeroom teacher’s classroom immediately upon entering building at start of day. Students who eat breakfast will still be allowed to get a tray and then will report to their classroom. Lunch will be in their teacher’s classroom so sack-lunches are encouraged, but not mandatory. If your student buys his/her lunch in the cafeteria, he/she will still be allowed to do so and return to classroom for lunch time.

This will be such a fun and exciting day for all of the students and I hope your child is ready to make some noise!!! As they say in the drumming world, badabaday!!!
