1 IntroductionThePF2100IisanIncineratorManagementSystemdesignedforusewithincineratorsandcombustorswhereassistgasisutilized.Thecombustionchambermustbemaintainedaboveacertaintemperaturebeforethewastegasispermittedtoflow.ThePF2100Iachievesthisbyutilizingathermocoupletomonitorthechambertemperatureandavalvetocontroltheassistgas.Oncethechamberisheateduptothesettemperaturewiththeassistgasthevalveforthewastegasopens.

Optionalexpansioncardscanbeaddedtothesystemtoenableremotecontrolofthesystem,remotemonitoring,analogpressuremeasurementordatalogging.

ThePF2100IusesthesamehardwareasthePF2100BMS.AlthoughtheLEDbehaviorofthePF2100Iisslightlydifferent.ThePF2100Igetshippedwithanewkeypad.ThenewLEDlabelsare:

ThePF2100Irequirestwothermocoupleslocatedinthesamethermowelltooperate:

Thesetwothermocouplesarecontinuouslycomparedtoeachother,iftheydonotmatchthesystemwillshutdown.

ThePF2100IhastheabilitytousetheAuxiliaryTCforeitherdisplaypurposes,ortocheckanadditionalhightempESDcondition.

3 ProcessControl3.1 Overview

ThefollowinggraphillustratesthePF2100I’sprocesscontrolwhenthesystemisstarted.Thisgraphisintendedasaroughoverviewoftheprocesscontrolalgorithm,andassuchitdoesnotincludeeverydetailintheprocesscontrolalgorithmsuchasdeadbands.

1. 30secondsafterthepilotflameisdetected,theassistgasvalveopenstoincreasetherateofheating2. Whenthechambertemperaturereachesthe“WasteGasOn”setpoint,thewastegasvalveimmediately

opensandincinerationbegins3. Whenthechambertemperatureexceedsthe“AssistGasOff”setpoint,theassistgasvalveimmediately

closes.Incinerationofwastegascontinues4. Whenthechambertemperaturedropsbelowthe“AssistGasOff”setpoint,theassistgasvalve

3.3 Setpoints

ThePF2100Ialwaysrequiresatleastthreesetpoints:

§ “WasteGasOn”setpoint(WGONSP):Whentheprocesstemperatureisabovethissetpoint,thewastegasvalveopens.Ifthetemperaturedropsbelowthissetpointthewastegasvalvecloses.Thissetpointhasnoimpactontheassistgasvalve

§ “AssistGasOff”setpoint(AGOFFSP):ThissetpointmustbehigherthantheWGONSP.Iftheprocesstemperatureisabovethissetpoint,theassistgasvalvecloses.Ifthetemperaturedropsbelowthissetpointtheassistgasvalvere-opens.Thissetpointhasnoimpactonthewastegasvalve.

§ HighTempESD

Eachofthesesetpointsiscomparedagainstthechambertemperature(ChamberTCandHighTempTCinputs).

Ifanauxiliarythermocoupleisconnected,itcanalsobeconfiguredforhightempESDs,withitstemperatureandsetpointhandledindependentlyfromtheotherthermocouples.

3.4 Deadband

WhenthechambertemperaturefallsbelowtheWasteGasOnorAssistGasOffsetpoints,thecorrespondingstatetransitionisnotmadeimmediatelybythePF2100I.Thetemperaturemustfallbelowthesetpointminusaspecifieddeadbandvaluebeforeastatetransitionoccurs.Theexactbehaviourisdifferentforeachsetpoint:

WasteGasOn§ Fixed2⁰C(3⁰F)deadband

AssistGasOff

§ Adjustabledeadbandfrom30-200⁰C(50-300⁰F)§ AssistGasOffsetpointminusthedeadbandmustbehigherthantheWasteGasOnsetpoint.

Shutdown/Warning/AlarmcodesareconsistentwithPF2100BMS.

The4-20mAOutputsupportsmirroringofthechambertemperatureaswellasproportionalvalvecontrol.

The4-20mAtemperaturesignalisencodedaccordingtothefollowing:

ThePF2100IincludesthemostrecentPIDcontrollerusedbythePF2100BMS.

4.5 4-20mAExpansionCardSupport

ThePF2100Isupportsthe4-20mAexpansioncardforpressureonly.Thelevelandauxiliaryinputsontheexpansioncardwillnotprovideanyfunctionality.

4.6 DataLoggingExpansionCardSupport
