PGCE Programme Aims• Develop a critical understanding of educational
issues relevant to primary schools• Develop critical reflection on practice and
continuing professional development• Meet requirements for Initial Teacher Training
(DfES, 2007) and support students in achieving QTS standards in– Professional attributes– Professional knowledge and understanding– Professional Skills
Dual Outcomes• Postgraduate Certificate in Education
- with 60 credits at level 7• Professional Graduate Certificate in
Education- with up to 30 credits at level 7
• In each case a strong start to a teaching career

Minimum Requirements• Good Academic Record (2.1 minimum)• GCSE grade C or equivalent – Maths, English and
Science• Capability to meet Standards for QTS including subject

accurately in spoken and written Standard English• PLUS – we do not consider anyone who has not had
significant experience in school
