INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

“Now we can brush our teeth!”

Report and photo submitted by Dr. Pushpa Chandwani

With just enough clean water to cook and drink, children in the village of our most recent International project did not brush their teeth regularly and had little hope for lasting good dental hygiene.

Thank you in part to funding through The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo, the project school site now has new sinks and clean water. With the new sinks and purified water, the school has started the children in a daily brushing routine! One child exclaimed, “Now we can brush our teeth!”

In addition, volunteer dentists are supporting the project by providing much needed dental care.

Stay tuned...

Why should I donate to The Rotary Foundation?

W h y s h o u l d I d o n a t e t o T h e Ro t a r y Foundation?Giving works because Rotary works. We are proud that 90.8 percent of donations go straight to supporting our service projects.

How does The Rotar y Foundation use donations? Our 35,000 clubs carr y out sustainable humanitarian service projects. Using donations like yours, we’ve wiped out 99 percent of all polio cases. Your donations train future peacemakers , support c lean water, and strengthen local economies.

What impact can one donation have on the world? It can save a life. A child can be protected from polio with as little as 60 cents. Our partners make your donation go even farther. If you are not donating, Please consider just $10 per month!

For every $1 Rotary commits to polio eradication, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $2.

“Everything you do sends a message about who you are and what you value” - Michael JosephsonIn 1987, after a distinguished 20-year career teaching law and as the CEO of a prominent legal education company (Josephson bar Review Center), he resigned his professorship and sold his business to found the Joseph & Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics, a nonprofit organization named in honor of his parents. Mr. Josephson has served as the Institute’s president without salary. All proceeds from his presentations and consultations go to the Institute.

CLUB SERVICE

My years at the White House!”By Greg Raths, Col., USMC (Ret.)

Rotarian Greg Raths was the speaker during the July 11, 2018, meeting of the Rotary Club of Mission Viejo. His topic was one of the most interesting presentations the club has ever enjoyed.

Greg shared several unusual stories of his time assigned to the White House. Speaking in broad terms, so not to breach confidential information, Greg shared thoughts of his assignment while helping coordinate travel for the President of the United States, (including: Air Force One, cargo planes, cars, fuel, food, helicopters, and more).

This wa s a we l l presented and ver y interesting program!
