Assessment suggestionsNeeds Improvement is OK at MIDPOINT-actually good ideameans that with more practice & effort you think the student will pass, just not there yetNeeds Improvement at Final is a FAIL

If student is considered Not Meeting an Acceptable Level of Performance means Major ConcernsMajor deficit's, potential fail Faculty must be notified by midpoint at the latestIf it is questionable whether student may pass; notify Faculty immediately: Renette or Marlene Need to provide student with warning regarding difficultiesfailure should not be a surprise documentation & examples important comment boxes on forms, be specific, comments helpful8

8Student AssessmentsStudent Self Assessments orientation, midpoint, finalcompare midpoint & final preceptor student performance assessments with student self assessments Week 1: Early Assessment of Preceptor Student completes Midpoint and Final Assessment of Preceptor and Site discusses with preceptor There are 2 surveys completed post placement by student coursepreceptor survey post placement 9

If the Early Assessment cannot be completed on the first Monday of the placement this is not a concern. We ask that it be completed no later than the following Tuesday or advise the Faculty (Gaenor) if this Early Assessment will be delayed beyond a day or so and the reason for the delay. 9Things to RememberStudents are responsible for ensuring that :all course requirements are metcourse portfolio assignments are complete and posted on-lineMany documents do not need to be included in portfolio for discussion only or review (i.e. DI questions) There is a portfolio checklist in the manualCourse policies in manual 40 hours/week: schedule determined with preceptor (evenings and weekends OK) cannot be paid (including gift cards) Sickness/bereavement: one day OK; > 1day time must be made upStudent cannot take another course at the some time as the placement

10

Cannot work 4X 12 hour days to have 3 day weekend. Need to maximize learning opportunities. Different with each site and with each preceptor. If you are being asked something and are not comfortable or question if it is Ok , contact Renette or Marlene.10What to do??If you think you have a problem you usually do!!!Call Faculty early. you might not have experienced the issue before but we likely have!
