4 Rooming

4.1 Classroom Capacity

Each classroom on average will be subject to the size of the room. Ratios are based on a 4msq per student

ratio. Room sizes and maximum permitted student numbers will be published to staff on the Phase 1

Timetable. If class numbers are over by 1-2 students, staff are not to go over the maximum number of

permitted students. 2 or less students can be placed in a neighbouring room or in the corridor.

4.2 Timetabled Rooms

If multiple rooms are required for a class, where possible rooms will be timetabled near each other. Each

room will have a teacher supervising the class. The main classroom teacher will be expected to engage in the

online platform with the students in the classroom and still at home. As numbers increase the class teacher

may be needed to supervise in the classroom and teach online from there.

Timetabled rooms will be published on the Phase 1 Timetable.

When lining up for the beginning of class, students will be required to social distance as much as possible in

the hallways.

4.3 Student Movement Between Rooms

Where possible, students will remain in the same classrooms to reduce movement around the school,

particularly students in Years 7 and 8. This will not be possible for Years 11 and 12 classes.

At the end of each period, the new teacher will move to the classroom. Students will only need to come

outside at recess and end of period 4 when they are to leave the premises.

5 Lesson Structure

5.1 Years 7 - 10

As mentioned above, junior students will follow their timetabled lessons for their scheduled day. Students

will complete the same unit of work which has been prepared for online learning at home. Teachers will not

be creating separate units of work for face to face delivery. The school has set up rooms with available

technology so that all students can be accessing work online. Students should where possible bring their own

device for safety reasons. It is very possible that students will not see their regular classroom teacher for the

timetabled lessons.

5.2 Years 11 - 12

Year 11 and 12 students will follow the timetable emailed to them to allow all teachers to see the students

over the week. Each of period 5 & 6 will be 1 hour long to maximise face-to-face time. In most cases students

will be taught by their own teacher. Some teachers may not be present on site during this day. The class will

be supervised by a teacher and the subject teacher may still engage online with the students. Rooms may

need to be changed to allow for access to computers. Students should bring their own headphones /

earphones and device if possible. Students will follow their normal Friday timetables including P0 with their

teachers.

5.3 Lesson Equipment

Students are encouraged to bring their personal device for online learning. If a student does not have a

device, they will be provided with one that they will use for the whole day and will clean it after use.

6 Year 12

6.1 Year 12 Practical Lessons

Year 12 students will be participating in practical lessons, particularly subjects involving major works.

Tuesday afternoons P5 & 6 have been designated to HSC practical subjects and may include some Year 11

practical classes as required. All students will be notified by their teachers if this is the case.

projects during study periods ONLY IF a staff member agrees to support the student during this study period.

9 Equipment
