TRANSCRIPT
PHASE 2 ELEMENT
Developing the material from previous phase into an element that will facili-tate communication and physical encounters with my user-partner.
The picture is from a specific bus stop I do a lot of waiting at. When persons wait, it is an usual habit to let the eyes wander.

User: Elderly with low sight
Me and my user met up the 3rd time in total at the Bergen Public Library.
I had the idea that the interiors and urban site were somewhat unfamiliar to him compared to his homeplace Nesttun in suburban Bergen.
I wanted myself to be more familiar of his visual impairment. Hence I wanted him to take some visual challenges at an unknown, but still friendly and calm area.
We sat down in the cosy chairs inside the 1st floor looking into the library and also outwards to the Bergen Storsenter mall.

When sitting down, at first it was a challenge to ask questions directly regarding the visual impairment. I felt rude and hesitated somewhat.
But I believe the genuine good dialogue and chemistry between me and my user-partner enhanced the setting a great deal.

I also used the camera on my phone as an eye, playing with where to put the focus and then understanding furthermore the major issue of the visual impairment that my user-partner has.
In addition to the visit and tasks performed at the Bergen Public Library, we also took a stroll to the Galleriet mall passing the many pavements and park lanes covered with snow.
At the shopping mall we actually found several well executed elements to enhance the usability for people with visual impairment.
These 2 pictures show my material from the previous phase and a scene in 2nd floor at the Bergen Public Library.
For me, the space on the left, specifically the row of thin books/comics and their sharp, white appearance intrigue me - and I like it. Perhaps it will stimulate me furthermore on developing my material into an element.
