First…
How many of you have ever been sick?
What We Do…
We help children who are very sick and receiving care at the hospital have their families close by their side.
Our History
Dr. Audrey Evans of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia had an idea for a place where families could stay close by their children in the hospital.
“I wanted parents to have a place to sleep in a
comfortable environment.” - Dr. Evans
Our History
At the same time, the Philadelphia Eagles were fundraising in support of player Fred Hill’s daughter Kim, who was battling leukemia.
Our History
Eagles GM Jimmy Murray met with Dr. Evans and committed to supporting her dream for a house. He approached their advertiser McDonald’s for support.
Our History
McDonald’s agreed to provide money for the house through sales of their Shamrock shakes, and on October 15, 1974, the first Ronald McDonald House
was born.
