The home for children was begun in March of 1972 in the town of SanMiguel de Allende, Gto. The Clinton Looney family invited Pat Devoreto come there and begin a Home for children. In April, with the help ofAlicia Martinex, who was living with the Looneys at the time, the firstchild came to live in the Home. Silvia had been left in the hospital andwas about to be sent to a children's Home in the town of Queretaro. After visiting the hospital and and talking to the mother, she agreed togive Silvia to Pat. During this time Pat had been living with theLooneys. But with the help of a Christian lady in San Miguel a smallhouse was found to rent.

In November of 1972, Beatriz, who had been in the Casa Hogar deSan Juan in San Potosi, came to live with Pat and Silvia.

Bob Wright, who has the Children's Home outside of Queretaro.knocked on our door with a tiny little girl for us. Alicia was one yearold, but looked about three or four months old. The Wrights at thattime had two babies and could not take any more children. Alicia wasvery sick for the first few days, but with a lot of care she began to perkup.

Page 12: Phillips Jerita 1975 Mexico

Pat was visiting in Celaya when a Doctor told her about a sevenmonth old boy who had been abandoned in the trunk of a car, and later, because of an Infection in one arm, had to have it amputated. Patprayed about it and felt sure that God wanted her to have this boy. So,in two days time they had two small babies, Alicia and Jonathan.

In November they moved back into the home of the Looneys, as theLooneys were preparing to move back to the States.

The family did not grow any more until July of 1973. That is whenMarcos. Silvia's brother, came to live with them. Marcos was in verybad health also. He had been left in a windowless room with only a doorand a kerosene two burner stove. The fumes had irritated his eyes somuch that he could not see. You could not see the pupils in the eyes. With medicine, and prayer he began to get better, but he is still a littlebehind. However he is growing and enjoys eating very much.
