Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (formerly known as 'Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute') is the first step in the actualization of Swami Vivekananda's vision that Belur Math would develop into an all-round University. It was declared by Government of India through its Ministry of Human Resource Development on the advice of University Grants Commission as an institution deemed-to-be-University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, by a Gazette Notification No.F.9-54/2004-U.3 dated 5 January 2005. The University was formally inaugurated by the Revered President of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission on 4 July 2005, the sacred day of mahasamadhi (passing away) of Swami Vivekananda.

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, abbreviated as RKMVU is head-quartered at Belur Math in the district of Howrah, West Bengal has the following unique characteristics:

(i) Emphasis on certain 'thrust areas' which are also 'gap areas' in these areas scarcely receive any attention in the conventional universities in India, (ii) Choice of the 'thrust areas' which are directly beneficial to the common man particularly in rural India, (iii) Multi-campus character—the university operates through a wide network of Faculty Centres specializing in these thrust areas and located at the various branch-centres of Ramakrishna Mission in various parts of India, (iv) Emphasis on the inculcation of higher human values to impart 'man-making, life-building and character-making education' as envisaged by Swami Vivekananda.

To start with, the 'thrust areas' have been chosen:

1. Disability Management and Special Education

2. Integrated Rural Development including Tribal Development

3. Indian Cultural and Spiritual Heritage and Value Education

4. Fundamental Sciences—Integrated Teaching and Research

5. Disaster Management including Relief and Rehabilitation

Courses in the first four of the above areas are already being run at the Ramakrishna Mission centres at Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu), Narendrapur (West Bengal), Ranchi (Jharkhand), Belur (West Bengal) and Swami Vivekananda's Ancestral House (Kolkata, West Bengal).

Background of the IRTDM Faculty Centre at Ranchi

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi-Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi was started in 1927 as a branch

centre of Ramakrishna Mission. In early sixties when the adjoining districts of Ranchi were in the grip of severe drought, this centre organised a distress relief. On completion of the relief work, the monks who were engaged in the work gave serious thought to evolve a lasting solution to the problem. It soon became clear to them that unless the farmers were empowered with appropriate and need-based technology supported by group action, they would never be able to overcome such adverse situations in future. The result of their thought was the establishment of a novel movement in rural development called 'Divyayan' (meaning 'Divine Way'). Divyayan, a unique Integrated Rural Development model with a residential training centre for tribal and rural youths was conceived and launched by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi, in 1969.

Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, recognized Divyayan as a

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in 1977. Divyayan received the best KVK award from ICAR for the year 1996-97. Divyayan is now well known in Jharkhand and throughout the country for its multifarious rural and tribal development activities — educational and cultural, health care, various training programmes which include horticulture, poultry and duckery, dairy, fishery, farm machinery, carpentry, bee-keeping, mushroom training, gardener's training, seed multiplication, organic manure and Integrated Pest Management (IPM), soil testing, vermi-compost, etc. Divyayan possesses fairly large agriculture and horticulture farms, measuring nearly 146 acres.

With the asset of vast experiences of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi for more than eight decades and Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) for more than three decades, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Belur Math decided to establish a faculty centre for 'Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management' at Morabadi, Ranchi, Jharkhand. The appeal was accepted and approval was given to this centre as an 'Off-campus Faculty Centre' by the University Grant Commission (UGC) after an inspection of six members team from

rd29 to 30 June 2006, vide notification No. F.6-96/2004(CPP-I) dated 3 July 2006.

Immediately after the approval, the Faculty Centre offered two courses in 2006-(1) One-year Diploma in Agro-Based Biotechnology (ABBT) and (2) Five-year 'Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management (IRTDM).

ndThe faculty centre started formal classes from 22 August 2006 in its existing premises. It organised a state level three days seminar-cum-workshop on Integrated Rural and Tribal Development from 13 to 15 January 2007.

The foundation stone of the faculty building was laid on 12 January 2007, the auspicious birth day of Swami Vivekananda. The four storied new building is now fully completed and

thinaugurated on 15 October 2012 by Srimat Swami Suhitanandaji maharaj, the General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math in presence of Dr. S. Ayyappan, the Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The new building comprises of about 64,000 oor area with following infrastructural facilities.

Establishment of IRTDM Faculty Centre

1) Class Rooms – Besides usual class rooms, the specialized class rooms are equipped with computer, internet facilities and LCD projector for conducting classes through power point presentation.

2) Laboratories- Well equipped different laboratories are provided for the students like Soil Testing Lab for analyzing macro & micro plant nutrients (with Nitrogen digester, automatic ab so rp t i o n spe c t ropho tome te r e t c . ) , Microbiology Lab, Mushroom Lab, Tissue Culture Lab, Quality Control & Molecular Biology Lab, Trichoderma Lab etc. Trichoderma Lab is equipped with the facilities of bio-pesticide preparation and culture for eco-friendly-control bio-agents. Students use these laboratories with the guidance of the experts and lab assistant for practicing soil testing, microbial culture preparation, bio-fertil izer preparation, Trichoderma preparation, quality parameters testing of different experimental farm products etc.

3) IRTDM Workshop- A separate room namely IRTDM workshop is provided for making specimens, models, charts, posters etc. related to rural development works as well as displaying of different activities through pictorial forms.

4) Library – IRTDM faculty established a library with about 24000 sq ft oor area comprising of general and individual reading sections, e-library, journal and newspaper sections, book stake section coupled with an office for the librarian.

5) Computer Laboratory- A well furnished big computer lab accommodating 43 computers with internet connectivity & a LCD projector to facilitate basic computer course for students. This lab is available throughout the day for learning practices, preparation of seminar, assignments, power point, project work, dissertation and other educational related works.

6) Seminar Hall- An air conditioned seminar hall with the capacity of 150 persons is recently developed with modern electronic gadgets, broad band connectivity for conducting seminars, combined classes, classes through video-conferencing etc.

7) Broad Band Connectivity- Broadband internet connectivity helps the students to get easy access to vast amounts of academic information, besides helping them to get the benefit of tele-education. Some classes are being conducted at IRTDM Faculty Centre, Ranchi by experts stationed at Belur Math.

8) Conference Room- There is a large conference room along with computer, internet and LCD projector facilities. The room is essentially used for conducting Academic Council & Board of Studies meetings, monthly staff meetings as well as for seminar presentation.

9) Examination Hall- A separate examination hall with more than 200 seating capacity is dedicated for students to provide a peaceful examination atmosphere throughout the year.

10) Class Room Study Facilities- Students are provided with class room study facility within the premises beyond class hours and holidays also, which is found to be very much beneficial for concentrative study.

Additional Facilities: Along with the above facilities the faculty center has the following additional facilities of Ashrama and Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-

The Ashrama & Divyayan KVK have well established infrastructure—buildings, experimental farms, demonstration units like dairy, poultry, duckery, fishery and bee-keeping.

The KVK has a well-equipped soil testing laboratory for analyzing macro- and micro- plant-nutrients, a biotechnology unit including vermiculture, production of mushroom-spawn and blue green algae, seed processing unit etc. and an agricultural engineering workshop. There is a well-organized Museum for displaying the activities of Divyayan and an excellent auditorium with a capacity of nearly 310 persons, with audio-visual and video-conferencing facilities.

The demonstration unit of poultry has different breeds of layers and broilers. There are also duck production unit with hatcheries. A dairy farm with high yielding cross-bred animals is also functioning efficiently.

Besides the existing experimental farm at Morabadi Ashrama, there are two large experimental farms at Maheshpur and Getalsud situated at a distance of about 35 km from Ranchi. Progeny orchards of different fruit plants and Green House facilities also exist in these experimental farms, where a lot of research trials and demonstrations on different crops and vegetables are conducted. Seed production programmes on rice, potato and different other vegetables are conducted in these farms along with different adopted villages.

Library Facilities: The Ashrama has its own library with reading room facility. The library contains with more than 25,000 books, and subscription of 80 periodicals, 10 daily news papers.

Medical Facilities: Ashrama has its own health centre for treatment of common ailments free of cost. Several renowned doctors are associated with the health centres and the students could get the benefit of their treatment and advice. Apart from the health centre, there is a Government Medical College and Hospital (Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences) located within 2 km, where 24-hour emergency service is available.

Students of this faculty centre have the advantage of getting the benefit of using the existing infrastructure of the Ashrama and its facilities. Moreover, there is ample scope for association and learning from the vibrant and extensive rural services and training activities of the Ashrama.

The multifarious rural development activities of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi are now well known. The emphasis on integrated approach and quality assurance has been the hallmark of these activities, so much so that the 'Divyayan' Unit of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, has been able to establish linkages with different Departments of the State and Central Governments, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and other national Institutes of repute. Besides the various integrated rural development activities, the Ashrama is also imparting education to the villagers through primary schools and the bridge courses under the scheme of National Institute of Open Schooling and ultimately the Faculty Centre for 'Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management (IRTDM)' of Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University.

Some of the important projects and schemes taken up by the Ashrama are: watershed development project, horticulture development projects under National Horticulture Mission, seed village programme, safe drinking water and safe sanitation programme, mobile agro-clinic and agro services, routine activities like field-days, rural extension activities, front line demonstrations, short term vocational training programmes for the rural youths, organizing Kisan melas/agricultural exhibitions using mobile audio-visual units for integrated rural development schemes. As many as 70 organizations collectively called 'Vivekananda Seva Sangha', established at the initiative of the ex-trainees of Divyayan work for the all-round development of their own villages.

Linkages and Rural Network

1. For five year Integrated M.Sc. ARTD course: (10+2) in Science stream or vocational Agriculture/Horticulture from a recognized

thinstitution/Board with at least 50% marks in both secondary (10 ) and (10+2) standard thexaminations. Appearing students with 50% marks in 10 & class XI may also apply.

2. For Two year M.Sc. ARTD course: B. Sc. in Agriculture/ Horticulture/ Forestry/ Agriculture and Rural Development with at least 50% marks.

Notes: 1. 5 % relaxation will be made for SC/ST candidates in all courses.

st2. Age limit for 5- year Integrated M.Sc. ARTD course not more than 20 years as on 1 July of

the respective year (Relaxation of age as per norms).

These courses demand not only rigorous intellectual work in the classroom and the laboratories but also hard physical work in the farms for crop management, mushroom cultivation, apiculture, vermi-composting etc., and occasional field visit to far-off villages where students may require to stay for some days, if necessary, for academic benefit. So a candidate eager for admission to the courses under IRTDM Faculty must possess the right mind-set that the above requirements would demand. Medical fitness of a candidate is certainly an important pre-requisite.

Subjects for written Admission Test

Students' Intake

Objectives

The five year integrated M.Sc. and two year M.Sc. courses in 'Agriculture, Rural & Tribal Development (ARTD)', are unique courses both from the point of view of imparting a comprehensive as well as in-depth knowledge of all aspects of rural and tribal development and management, but also is expected to gift the student successfully completing the course with a career that would make a difference. The syllabus and curriculum formulated for the course has been done with great accuracy in consultation with various experts in order that the students gain a thorough knowledge of all aspects of rural and tribal development and management in an integrated way. For example, the course content includes topics of all variety in the area of rural and tribal development and management like natural resource management, health and nutrition, environment management, information and communication technology (ICT) in rural development, communication skill in English, and personality development. Most important of all, the emphasis on higher human values which alone can contribute to success at the individual and collective level, all the knowledge skill acquisition notwithstanding, is the feature that makes the course unique. There will be an option for lateral mobility at the end of the third year of the five year integrated M.Sc. Course. Students seeking exit at the end of the third year will receive B.Sc. degree and a limited number of students with B.Sc. degree in agriculture and allied subjects from other institutes / universities may also be admitted to the two year M.Sc. degree, if found suitable.

Project work and Dissertation Work: In the sixth semester students are taught how to do research work through small projects preparation which enable them to study in deep on the selected topic. Time span for the project work is 3 to 4 months. In the tenth semester students have to do research elaborately for at least 6 months under Dissertation work and to submit the dissertation report to the department. These are compulsory for the partial fulfilment for awarding the degree. The Project Work and Dissertation will be evaluated by external examiners of other universities/ institutions.

Rural Living and Learning Experience (RLLE): The most essential component of the course is to bridge the divide between academics and application by generating willingness among the students for rural living and to develop the inquisitive process of learning leading to action through participation in villagers' day to day activities. The interactive involvement with the villagers in different institutional contexts would expand the innovative qualities of the students.

During this period students will-(a) Identify the major rural and tribal issues of the area,(b) Find out possible ways to solve the issues and prepare a action plan accordingly, and ( c ) E xe c u t i o n a n d m a n a ge m e n t o f t h e a c t i o n p l a n a s a f a c i l i t a t o r ( s ) . RLLE is, therefore, an indispensable pedagogical component of the ARTD course.

About Courses

Learning through Organizational Attachment (LOA): LOA provides students with the know-how of practical work and learning opportunity. It attempts to prepare the students with more effective techniques, better decision making abilities, instill in them the vigour of approach in productivity, excellence and innovation. It exposes the students to real life situations and provides them with opportunities to apply the concepts learnt in the classroom in actual situations. It also helps them to develop innovative target-oriented solutions to the major issues faced by the organization and address strategy formulation as well as operational and functional problems. The duration of LOA would be 4 weeks at the end the 8th semester. Apart from this compulsory LOA for 4 weeks, there will be an optional LOA for 3 months after the completion of the final examination including viva-voce at the end of the 10th semester. A token stipend may be give by the respective organization to the students undergoing this optional LOA.

Here students will get opportunities to visit and study the activities of Universities, state departments of agriculture and allied sectors, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Banks, other Government and Non-Government Institutions which are involved in different rural development activities. Students thus will acquire firsthand knowledge of all prevailing projects/programmes, their mode of implementation and different strategies involved to encounter the problems faced. This exposes the students to real life situations and gives them opportunities to apply in actual situations like-(a) Concepts on integrated rural and tribal development, (b) Different technologies based on agriculture and related fields and(c) Management concepts learnt in class room situations. Students are thus prepared- (a) To utilize the scope which they will get for development, and (b) To face with confidence the problems which they may encounter during their professional career.This will be a compulsory segment for a period of four weeks at the end of or during 10th semester.

Rural development works experience (RDWE)

The course is innovative and non-conventional in nature. The courses integrate 'learning, extension and teaching' in the curriculum. Intensive class hours: 30 class hours (theory + practical) per week and 12 hrs per week

for field work practices, teaching and extension. Courses on integral personality development in the curriculum aim at the development of

character and personality of the students. Further, the emphasis on value education enriches the course content and helps inculcate a sense of higher human values.

The course is designed on the semester pattern and the university follows the 'course and credit' system.

Medium of instruction is generally English, although Hindi is sometimes used for explanation, if needed.

Methods of instruction/learning are lecture, discussion, use of computer, internet, audio-visual aid, tele-education, printed/dictated handouts/notes, assignments; students' participation in discussion, seminar, field visit and interacting with farmers, peer learning, learning by doing, Rural Living and Learning Experiences (RLLE) etc.

Institutional visit for witnessing direct educational & practical experiences of different developmental works, learning through organisational attachment (LOA) during summer internship training programmes.

Evaluation and Examination System & Rules

Evaluation by Credit System: For continuous evaluation of the performance of a student credit system is followed. Each course is assigned a certain weightage which is represented by number of credits. A student's performance is measured by the grade point earned by him/her. A student has to complete the courses prescribed in different semesters and has to earn the prescribed grade points in order to qualify for the degree. An overview of this system is as follows:

1. A student/candidate has to successfully complete courses that would together earn about 60 credits per year to be eligible for the award of the degree. Each credit equals to 18 hours of teaching (both for theory and practical).

2. The university follows 10 point scale evaluation system for calculating numerical grade and overall grade point average (OGPA). If a student fails to obtain a minimum GPA at the end of each semester he/she will be declared failed for that course

Examination System & Rules: 1. Distribution of marks for each module/paper:

Theory + Practical = 50+50 = 100 marks.

2. Number of Examinations & exam wise Marks Allotment: There will be two unit tests, one mid semester test and end term/ semester final examina�ons for all modules of all courses. Two Unit Tests and one mid‐semester tests (both for theory and prac�cal) account for 40% of the total marks and the End Term/Semester Final Examina�on (theory and prac�cal) accounts for 60% of total marks.

3. Passing Criteria in each module for all courses: (a) A minimum marks to be secured by a student in an individual module:

i.e. 40% in theory and 50% in practical, then the student will be declared as passed in the respective module.

(i) Student(s) securing less than the required marks (minimum pass marks in any module theory and practical separately) will be declared as failed in that particular module(s). However, student(s) will get another two more chances to clear that/those module(s) within a year. Otherwise, he/she will have to appear in the next similar semester. Candidate failing to qualify within the above stipulated period and within the permitted number of attempts shall have to repeat the course.

(ii) Students securing less than pass marks in more than three modules will have to repeat the full semester in the next similar semester after 6th or 10th semester whichever is earlier, as post-final year students.

(iii) A candidate failing in the project work/dissertation shall be required to re-submit the project work/ dissertation.

(b) A student who successfully completes the course and passes the examinations prescribed in all the modules of the Integrated M.Sc. shall be declared to have qualified for the degree.

(c) Any appeal regarding results of semester examinations should be made within thirty days from the date of the publication of the results.

4. Attendance Criteria: At least 75% of attendance (in theoretical and practical classes separately) is compulsory in each module of a semester. However, in case of severe illness or some genuine reasons students with attendance below 75% but not less than 65% may be allowed to appear in the final examination with a valid proof by paying Rs.100/- per module as condonation fee, subject to the approval of the concerned authority. Students with less than 65% of attendance in any module of any semester will normally be considered as disqualified to appear at that semester and will have to appear in the next similar semester, provided that this facility cannot be availed of in more than three modules. Students thus disqualified in more than three modules will have to repeat the full semester in the

th thnext similar semester after 6 or 10 semester whichever is earlier, as a post final year student. Repeat full semester means attending all classes, unit tests, mid-semester and final examinations etc like the other students of that semester.

5. Fees for Supplementary Examination: For any supplementary examination student have to pay supplementary examination fees. For unit tests Rs.25/- per paper and for mid semester & semester final examinations are Rs.100/- per paper (theory & practical separately). Supplementary examination may be conducted due to-

(i) Failed in any subject(s); (ii) Not appearing in exam on medical ground/ valid genuine reason with valid proof

like doctor's certificate, prescription etc & approved by the authority of the faculty; (iii) Attendance shortage due to serious illness/ valid genuine reason with valid proof like

doctor's certificate, prescription etc & approved by the authority of the faculty;

6. Comprehensive Examination: Two comprehensive examinations are conducted before awarding the degree to students. Firstly, after completion of the sixth semester on the whole

st th th thsyllabus from 1 to 6 semester; and secondly after completion of tenth semester on 7 to 10 semesters' courses. The comprehensive examination system is introduced to revise (facilitate rememorizing) the whole course at the end of sixth and tenth semester, which would be proved to be beneficial for final year students before appearing any interview for job.

7. The Course Co-ordinator together with the Dean will conduct the course, co-ordinate the work of the other members of the faculty involved in that course, hold tests and assignments.

OGPA/CGPA calculation: Overall Grade point Average (OGPA) is calculated after the successful completion of the courses in all semesters. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated up to that semester in which the student has completed the courses/modules, on the basis of the following formula: OGPA = Σ(Ci x Pj) / ΣCi

Grading System

The Faculty Centre for IRTDM has a good number of resource persons to teach and train the students. In addi�on to core qualified permanent faculty members (professors) of the university and of Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, there are several visi�ng lecturers and professors from renowned agricultural ins�tutes, universi�es, management ins�tutes and other organiza�ons/ins�tutes. Thus, the IRTDM faculty centre has the capability to provide be�er classes through its expert professors & professionals.

thThe convoca�on is generally conducted in each and every year on 4 July in Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University headquarters at Belur Math. A special convoca�on was held

thon 15 October, 2012 coinciding with the inaugura�on ceremony of the new IRTDM faculty building at Ranchi, where degrees were awarded at the convoca�on for graduates of the faculty.

Study tours to different Ins�tutes, laboratories, farms, farmers' fields, forest areas, village camps are arranged for the students. Apart from these, the students par�cipate in Kisan Mela, games, and cultural programmes as well as in several fes�vals/celebra�ons.

Agriculture, Rural & Tribal Development (ARTD) offers a rigorous, interdisciplinary, practical oriented course with syllabi and curricula designed to prepare a band of young men and women with thorough knowledge of all aspects of rural lives, their problems, and possible remedies/solutions. Their comprehensive knowledge and skill in all the major areas of rural development give them a holistic view of 'Integrated Rural & Tribal Development and Management', thus enabling them to act as single window service providers for integrated rural and tribal development.

On successful completion of the course, a student of M.Sc. ARTD is expected to develop knowledge/skills in the following four major areas:

1. Knowledge of society, rural systems, social issues and social intervention; understanding of the structure, function, problems of integration of the rural society in order to comprehend the urgent need of a new thrust on 'Integrated Rural and Tribal Development'.

2. Agriculture and allied technologies including natural resource management; developing knowledge and practical skill in the related fields in an integrated and holistic way.

3. Marketing and co-operation, management in farm, agribusiness, micro-finance, finance, human resource including extension, entrepreneurship and research methodology; acquiring the art/skill to apply all resources and technologies in attaining desired positive goal.

4. Personality development and value education, based on Indian culture inculcating higher human values together with soft skill like communicative English and basic knowledge of computer operation; encountering and solving the problems of real life at individual and community levels.

In addition to knowledge and skill in the above mentioned major areas they would, at the end of the course, be expected to develop skills also in the following areas:

1. Experiential Learning: Understand the connections between classroom and experiential learning and successful practice in multiple forms of real world applications.

2. Decision Making: Understand how uncertainty, risk, ethics, economics affect rural development activities.

3. Teamwork: Collaborate as teams members, effectively working with multiple stakeholders from various backgrounds to address rural developmental issues.

4. Professional Development: Understand how their education will serve them as professionals in the field of rural development like establishing rural agro-service cum agri-clinics, rural growth centres etc.

5. Self‐employment: Empower the students for self‐employment through rural entrepreneurship.

There is a scope (strong possibility) of absorption of the students passing out of these courses in: 1. Rural Development Institutes2. NGOs/Quasi-Government/Semi-Government Organizations3. Banking Sector4. Private/Corporate Houses5. Government Jobs6. Self-entrepreneurship etc.

The main objec�ve of the courses under the Faculty of IRTDM are aimed at developing entrepreneurship, self‐confidence and self employment, so that the students passing out of these courses are envisaged to be job providers rather than job seekers, nevertheless our students, immediately a�er passing, find themselves at ease in the job market, especially in the private sector. During the past couple of years, the ARTD students of this Faculty Centre a�er passing out immediately got absorbed in various reputed NGOs and corporate houses like the Usha Mar�n Group etc. with a fairly good pay package. The students of this faculty centre get jobs easily in different NGOs/private companies.

Candidates are required to appear in an admission test. The successful candidates will be admitted in order of merit. Merit list will be prepared by taking into account the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations, together with written test and interview.

Note: Reservation rules laid down by UGC for SC/ST category are adhered to.

However, in case candidates awaiting for final results, the mark sheet of last part examination, along with a certificate from the head of the institution stating that the candidate has appeared for the final examination and that result is awaited, will be needed for consideration of applicant.**** It must be noted that the candidates shall be disqualified if they fail to obtain required minimum marks as stated abovein eligibility criteria.

The candidate has the choice of appearing the entrance examination either at our IRTDM faculty centre at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi, Ranchi or at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (Headquarter), Belur Math, West Bengal. Qualifying candidates in written test have to appear in interview & viva-voce test at IRTDM faculty, Morabadi, Ranchi.

(A) Course Fees Integrated M.Sc. ARTD course:

Rs.10000/- per semester for the first three years (six semesters) and Rs.12500/- per semester for the next two years (four semesters)

(B) Admission Fee & Others In addition, every student shall pay a one-time fee of Rs.5,300/-, which includes admission fee (Rs.3000/-), caution deposit (Rs.2000/-), registration fee (Rs.200/-) and identity card charges (Rs.100/-). While caution deposit is refundable at the end of the course (after deduction for breakage, damages etc, if any), no other fees are refundable.

Selected candidates who fail to get admission within the stipulated time without prior permission from the university authorities run the risk of forfeiting their seats. If a candidate is found to furnish incorrect/false information in the application or in the documents attached thereto, his/her admission to the university will stand cancelled.

Class HoursClasses will be held from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday. However, practical and field work may extend beyond these hours, occasionally demanding stay for a couple of days in rural areas for survey work, field work etc.

Membership of 'Global University for Network for Innovation (GUNI) a UNESCO-UNU-PC initiative, awarded to our university.-Approval Letter Received on 12 Feb. 2007 from GUNI.

In order to maintain uniformity and decorum, the University has prescribed the following uniform or dress code. For male students : Grey full pants, white shirt. For Female students : Grey shalwar-kamij with white duppatta or sari with similar colour.

Sweater, if used in winter, should be of grey colour for both male and female.

At least 75% of attendance (in theoretical and practical classes separately) is compulsory in each module of a semester. Failing which the student may face the necessary disciplinary action, details of which are mentioned in examination and evaluation system.

1. Students should always remember that they are part of Ramakrishna Mission, an organization started by Swami Vivekananda at the behest of his Master, Sri Ramakrishna, which is internationally reputed for its service to humankind and rooted in the highest values of morality, ethics, integrity and discipline. They are therefore expected to maintain and uphold these values within and outside the precincts of the Institute.

2. Being a non-political organization, the students of the Ramakrishna Mission's University should strictly avoid any political activity within the campus.

3. Ragging in any form is strictly banned, and as it goes against the honour code of the university, it is treated as a serious offence. Any violation of this rule will be treated with strict disciplinary action.

4. Every student has to wear dress as per the prescribed uniform.

5. No student will be allowed to be absent himself/herself from the classes without valid reason. Application for leave should be made beforehand to the Coordinator/Administrative Head. In the case of leave application due to illness, the authority may ask to produce a proper medical certificate.

The honour code is a set of rules/ standards/ principles as a part of the education process which is to be followed by the students of this university to maintain academic honesty and integrity. The students are required to give an undertaking that they will uphold the spirit and letter of the honour code. Violations of this code may result in disciplinary action. In brief the honour code canons are as follows:

1. Maintain high ethical standard, honesty and integrity in one's conduct. 2. Abide by the rules and regulations of the University. 3. Honour the rights of others. 4. Always honestly present your own work in case of home assignment, problem solving,

project work/dissertation etc. 5. Help the university to establish optimal conditions for honourable academic work.

United Bank of India has approved our University as an eligible Educational institution for sanction of Educational Loan to the students of ARTD course. The needy students may apply directly to UBI branches for loan.

At present, the Faculty Centre for IRTDM, Ranchi, does not have any hostel facility. However, the University will extend help to the outstation students to find suitable accommodation at reasonable rates in the vicinity of the University Faculty Centre.

SC/ST/OBC students of Jharkhand may get post matric scholarship from Jharkhand Govt. Students of low economic background may apply to Trusts and other private institutes on their own initiative. Although the University does not commit itself regarding grant of scholarship/stipend, it would earnestly help the deserving students in this regard.

The IRTDM Faculty Centre at Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Vishuddhananda Marg, Morabadi, Ranchi is located about 8 km away from the Ranchi railway station. It is located at the foot of 'Tagore Hill', about half km from Morabadi ground.
