Book Fair

This week in the library we're having our annual Book Fair - we have EFTPOS and VISA facilities so we're just like a pop-up book shop. We're open before and after school every day this week. Anything you buy helps support our school library so it is greatly appreciated!

James Russell (Author) visited yesterday. His books are for sale in the office for $20 each.

Walking School Bus

Many of you may have noticed a long line of pupils accompanied by Mum's in Hi-Vis on the way to school over the last few months. Working closely with Auckland Transport a number of our parents have volunteered to lead the Walking School Bus which has been a great success. The children have really enjoyed joining the bus every morning, it's been a great opportunity to make new friends, that along with a great merit scheme involving bus tickets that are clipped every morning, achievement badges as well as a Walking School Bus Milo and Muffin morning have proved a great incentive to get our walkers, walking every morning.

So far we have buses that walk along Te Wharau Drive, Tauhinu Road, Roland Road and Rame Road so if you see then feel free to join in. Alternatively with the onset of Summer how about setting up a walking school bus on your route to school?.

For more information contact [email protected] or have a chat to our School Coordinator Faith Laursen. We're really looking forward to seeing more Walking School Buses in and around Greenhithe.

School Fair - Cakes & Sweets Stall

Not long to go now until our School Fair on Friday 11th November. One of the most popular stalls at the fair is always the Cakes & Sweets Stall and this is where our parents can showcase their baking talents with yummy treats for sale. So get your baking and slice tins at the ready as the eldest child in each family will be bringing an empty cake box home in a few weeks so parents can get into the early Christmas spirit, put their baking hats on and support this awesome fundraising stall at the fair.

Homestay Families

Greenhithe School is putting together a portfolio of homestay families for international students we host from time to time. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please contact Greenhithe School’s International department.

Homestay families should enjoy talking to students and helping them improve their English. Greenhithe School remunerates our homestay families $300 per homestay ‘guest’, per week. Homestay students and parents should be provided with: 3 meals a day and snacks, including a packed lunch during the school week. Travel to and from school unless within a short walking distance (less than 15 minutes). Please contact Greenhithe School’s International department for further information.
