Dear Family and Teachers,

Welcome to Scholastic Phonics Ready Readers! This collection of 72little practice readers includes easy-to-read storybooks and nonfiction

titles. These readers are carefully designed to help children practice

with letter-sound relationships and sight words. In other words, they

are designed to help young readers unlock the key to reading.

There are six sets of Phonics Ready Readers in all. Each contains 12

books that gradually increase in complexity, while constantly reviewing

elements taught along the way.

Happy reading!

Your friends at Scholastic

Set 1: Books 1-12 • Focus on the alphabet, initial consonants, blending

with phonograms, and beginning sight words.

Set 2: Books 13-24 • Highest utility consonants in initial and final

positions, short-vowel sounds, and additional

sight words are featured.

Set 3: Books 25-36 • Consonant and short-vowel sounds blended and

reviewed, enabling children to read hundreds

of words.

Sets 4-6: Books 37-72 • Practice with long- and short-vowel sounds,

vowel combinations, digraphs, inflectional

endings, and consonant blends. Vocabulary is

expanded and reviewed.
